I had a sneaking suspicion this story would involve a junkie.

I've seen junkies pull of way better robberies than that. Idk if its true but a kid we went to school with tried holding up a place with his dick spraying piss everywhere. The reason I can believe this is growing up he had no shame. That and he would be dumb enough to rob a tanning salon. Mostly giftcards

0.02% of the population or 1 in 50 people? Unless my math is wrong..
However this is startlingly similar to two events in 1979.. the fall of the Shah in Iran and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

3 junkies tried to rob my Dad once, but I wasn't far away at the time. He called me, and I chased them down with my pickup truck and my big dog. They swam across a river and got away. I scored 3 pairs of running shoes they left on the riverbank, though.

Funny, in Miami if you robbed someone you always made sure to take their shoes. Reverse-robbery right there

I have no idea why I laughed at that story. I guess because it was so bizarre.

Is there a dual purpose to this? So like the person being robbed can't give chase effectively?

I have a feeling they included those who tried heroin for a short time and ex-addicts...that's probably why it is so high. I think 20 or 30,000 heroin fiends are based in Dublin but I could be wrong...feel free to correct me. I read it in an article or newspaper a long time ago so I could be wrong
Yeah never lived their but I hear Dublin's the capital of heroin in europe atm. Suppose to be getting worse according to statistics, with a growth rate of 10 people a week or something.

Esekon Kelly said: My dad told me this skinny nasty looking junkie came into his workplace and entered his office with a hammer. This junkie demanded money or he'll smash my dad's skull in. My dad straight up told him they don't deal in cash in this company, only credit cards and cheques are mostly used. The thief didn't believe him and smashed this computer device on the table but my dad had enough and reached into the drawer and gave the man 6 euro in coins (8 dollars) and told him, "Don't spend it all on crystal meth" and advised him never to come back and urged the man to admit himself into a drug rehab centre. My dad said if the man didn't leave immediately he hopes the first hammer blow will kill my dad and if not then my dad shall beat the fucking shit out of him. the man knew he couldn't win so he just gtfo. The junkie probably didn't have the guts to harm anyone. He couldn't have been that desperate. however My dad could have gotten killed. My dad workplace is located in a area notorious for drugs, violence, rape and murder. Its a very rough part of town...lots of poverty
In this kind of situation, 2010-era St1llnox would have pulled out his 1060 carbon steel combat-grade bastard sword and yelled "Come at me bro!"
