Opened seemingly healthy jar, that had contam

So, I just inoculated a few jars 5 days ago. And I went to take off the tinfoil today, and got a big whiff of a very foul smell after I did.
It was rather close to my nose. Should I be worried? Can contams do that much damage only 5 days in?

It would be useful to describe the odor in order to help determine the nature of the comtamination. Check for any discoloration or collected liquid in the culture and describe that as well. Look for these signs in all other cultures and, obviously, disposal of the infected cultures is required.
Suspected source of contamination: incomplete sterilization or pasteurization of culture substrate.

Didn't have a sour smell, just a unpleasant garbage smell. No discoloration or anything, there wasn't even any mycelium growing. The grain looked like it did the day I inoculated it.
Can mold spores even spread this early?

MY friend once told me that it takes about three days for a contamination to leave a jar & three more to attack and enter even some of the best filters to jars. But then again my friend could be wrong.

Ok, I'm going to toss the rest just to be safe. Hope I didn't inhale any nasty spores when I caught a whiff after opening

My friend is severely allergic to penicillin so he could probably get sick and die from that but you should be okay.

It's not mold. It's bacteria.

Molds are very obvious, just like on bread or other food. And don't worry about toxicity. Fungal and bacterial spores are everywhere. The danger is to other uncontaminated cultures. There is plenty of info on this site about clean culture; too much to cover here.
Garbage smell is, again, too general to be useful; but it is likely to be bacterial if it has smells other than nutty/earthy/fungus-like. With experience you will see the differences. Smell is very important in all aspects of mycology.
You are too early for the fungus to mass large enough to have much odor, so anything pronounced or strong is bad.
