Is it absolutely necessary to add hydrogen peroxide to the dunking water? I am just throwing a pot on the boil then dunking in that. My apartment has been kind of cold with the weather recently so I figure that should inhibit most bacterial growth. Also a question on the fruting chamber. Due to the cold I will need to run heat 24/7 for these guys once in the shotgun chamber, however my only heating unit double as an ac unit and has multitudes of spores and dust within. For this reason I am faced with either not drilling the holes and manually exchanging the air multiple times daily after shutting off the unit and letting dust settle. Or using a small heater in the closet to keep a somewhat stable room temperature with the holes drilled. Thoughts?

No...never...get peroxide out of your mind....unless you get cobweb mold.
Dunk in cool tap water for 24 hours...then roll the cakes in dry verm.

You would need to exchange the air multiple times PER HOUR.
Fruiting is not a sterile process, fully colonized cakes are contam resistant.
Furthermore, not following the tek will result in failure.
Drill 1/4" holes every 2" on all 6 sides, just like the tek says.

Use the heater you have....it will be fine.
Heat the room, not the chamber.
But you would only need to heat the room if your temps are below 60F.
