I functioned a lot better with cannabis

Ok so about 4 months ago I quit because I thought I might have been becoming dependent. I was using it a lot(sometimes, sometimes not). So I'd use it. Its hard to remember all the reasons but mostly I was generally unhappy with how my life was. I just wanted to live it stress free. I wanted to do what I wanted. Which was smoke pot. I was pretty excited for life at that time. I mean. Yeah I had to do a lot of things that made me feel uncomfortable. Normally I had anxiety like I do now. I literally get zero shit done because I'm a pretty anxious person. I don't think its by choice. Also I tend to have a very active mind. Cannabis had me more focused and I could deal with things. Zero distractions. I self medicated in a sense. Now I never seeked out pot in the first place. I happened to try it and noticed a change that made me think. Hey.. this makes me feel normal.
Well again its been 4+ months. I feel like little has changed about me personality wise. The only problem is anxiety..
So in your opinion, considering my situation do you think I should go ahead and continue medicating myself again. Or would this mean I am dependent? Or that I have some mental health issue that is fixed with cannabis? Now the only alternative I can think of is pharmaceutical drugs but to me that just seems stupid.
I've spent a lot of time trying to fix this problem myself. I asked myself tons of questions and examined how I generally feel. Using metacognition and such. I understand that I have an issue being motivated. Motivated to live life. I'm not suicidal I just want to be passive. Let life go on with me on the side line. I don't care theres not much to motivate me to really want to get up or be excited. I've been this way my whole life. More or less I want to get old and let the world move on. I was brought up as a child mostly in isolation, with a feeling that I was mostly prisoner to what happened. Soon after I just let things happen with indifference. Hell I went to nearly 13 different schools, each in a new city before I was 13. Part of me just felt I had no control. So that seemed to develop into my personality.
However with weed it seemed to radically change how I felt. Its really hard to describe. I just don't think I can be that way without it. At times I didn't use it that much when I got busy. The effects seemed to last a week or longer. My mom has depression and other mental disorders. Even when I had a stash that was comforting enough. That if I didn't feel I'd be able to get up in the morning if it wasn't in my life. Simply the motivation that no matter what went wrong I'd have some weed to fall back on if I needed to(that meant even though I wasn't high, I'd get shit done without worry because I had a safety buffer). Sort of like a good friend who was there if everything went to shit. You could at least talk it out.
Now I'm having a lot of cognitive dissonance about this. On one hand I'd rather live life without myself getting in the way. And on the other I don't want to rely on drugs because well, changing brain chemistry unnaturally(modulation). Or am I wrong to think this? If it helps me, am I doing a disservice to myself by keeping myself from having it?
Please help my out shroomery. I'm having a shitty time.
TLDR; I had no drive then weed came into the picture and I wanted more for myself. Now that I've quit I'm back to my old self. Giving little effort just to get by. Its to exhausting.

Smoking pot all day encourages a happy and fun lifestyle. People think it makes you lazy because it discourages you from being a typical 9 to 5 working bee and encourages you to take control of your life and live for pleasure not pain. I'm stoned all the time and love it and the fun life I live so obviously I'm gonna say get back on the pot.

Have you tried exercising? Getting in better shape dropped my anxiety levels dramatically. Not to mention you feel generally high after work outs and it lasts a long time. Also, FYI, weed has, atleast for me, long term effects that you must stop for a long time before you can expect them to go away...especially if you smoked early in your teenage years when your brain was still very plastic.
Neuroplasticity is still possible and your mind will change, but yeah its been like a year now and I still have that general anxiety that started with weed.
I would research diet/excercising routines. Its helped me like nobodies business.

Scary, my bro used to smoke weed daily like this and got like this too no motivation for anything, no interest in anything etc. and it has lasted years afterwards
I used to smoke daily too... had the same problem myself
Stop smoking the crap IMO, and start doing what you love
Psychedelics can help heal the soul sometimes... they often motivate me right after a trip

It is only possible to be yourself without drugs/stress/pills
Mind and body feels best without adding anything
(I used to smoke daily in large amounts, so I know what Im talking about from personal experience, also my dad used to smoke for 20 years before quitting - the haze lasts many months after quitting, better quit early)

I'm in a similar situation.
It helps with my anxiety, yet I don't like relying on chemicals to get by.
I think it comes down to quality of life, if you feel it has an overall benefit to your quality of life, continue using. If it has an overall negative effect, quit or reduce.
I realize it isn't so simply, since it is a huge calculation to figure out.
My personal main issue is being dependent on it to feel normal.

I do exercise. Surprisingly I started getting really into it when I started smoking. It was simply this. If I smoked pot I was not gonna be lazy, instead I'll do something with the time I spend smoking. Working out was it. I could push myself further because I felt less pain.
Now I still work out but not quite as hardcore about it. I don't push myself as much. On weed I get huge bursts of energy that I don't normally get. Super motivated.
As for adolescence. I tried it first time when I was 17. Stopped cause I didn't like it much. 2 years later. 19 I tried it again. Stopped for awhile. It wasn't until I was 21 that I actually was consistent. It wasnt until this last year or so (age 23) that I felt like I was doing it to often.
Also thanks for all the advice. I haven't made a decision yet. I better think carefully. Once I do it. Its in my body for awhile, so why quit when I just start.
Also a sort of negative thing about it is the positive reinforcement I'd get from people. Even anti pot people. Friends in general treated me like I was some kind of Seth Rogan of pot. Now if I experienced some kind of social pressure not to do it that would consider into my decision. However people say I'm funny but even more funny when high

I have a friend who swears he can't function without weed, he NEEDS to smoke it... Thing is he hasn't stopped smoking weed for since he was like 13 or something and he's 25 now. I told him he should stop and see how it feels now, he's just like "no way man, It just doesn't work", Honestly every one's body is differn't so is it possible that some people can function better being stoned all the time? Probably IMO it's not out of the realm of possibility but honestly I think most if not all people can function just fine without being stoned all the time.
I used to think weed was absolutely harmless, but with myself I need to take breaks from it otherwise I just abuse it but that's just me.

Physically, yes. Any cannabis related receptor down regulation should be over.
Psychologically. that is completely dependent on the person. It is your mind.

I used to get motivation from smoking weed too. It never killed my motivation either. What it does do is it creates a general anxiety that i cannot get rid of.
However, slowly it goes away...slowly but surely. With good fitness and health I feel way happier than I ever did before and I dont even need to drink etc. I do smoke occasional ciggarettes...but rarely more than once per week.
It has been an amazing thing to dedicate myself to it and achieve some fantastic results.
Good luck in your endeavours.

I've never felt at all "high" from exercise, unless tired means high. In fact exercise always makes me feel bad, and always has.

Try sitting in nature/taking a walk in nature
and exercising too, I like running/cycling , no matter what shape youre in you can always cycle 40km ;-)
it will take many many months before your head will start to feel normal if you smoked as much as I did but the sooner you quit the better for your mind likely, it can really destroy motivation
exercising is my drug... works better than weed body and mind feels good after it, can sleep easily too (and no prob getting up next day, where weed always gave me probs + urge to smoke next day) just cycle 10km.. then you will sleep

Thats why you need to research and learn. Excercise isn't a be all end all. It has to be one correctly and with planning. You cant just go to the gym and go crazy and expect yourself to feel good. Working out damages the body and the body repairs. I used to be tired all the time as well, such doge I was. Wow...such exhaust.
Its tricky but eventually you will become sensitive to when you've had enough and when you've had just the right amount. Its not a one size fits all in anything, but if your feeling tired all the time then your just overdoing it. Our bodies were MADE for excercising, evolutionarily speaking, same as sex. We were not evolved into taking drugs, its just not a nessecity such as sex/working out.
Much research still. So time. Go. WOW

I didn't say I feel tired all the time, I said I feel tired after exercising, we are made to be able to exercise, unlike sex it is not an end goal.

I didn't say I feel tired all the time, I said I feel tired after exercising, we are made to be able to exercise, unlike sex it is not an end goal.
Yeah it isn't, however, it provides the user with many cognitive/sexual/physical benefits. So if the end goals of a species is reproduction exercise is imperative to the flourishment of said species because it is critical to good sex in the long term. When your young it isn't but Erectile Disfunction to name one problem, is much much less prevalent in male's who exercise.
Much lift,Bro. Such attractive. Amaze.
