Father arrested for picking up kids from school
    #19169671 - 11/21/13 11:54 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/11/19/school-is-out-my-kids-are-to-be-given-to-me-dad-arrested-after-objecting-when-school-says-he-must-wait-to-take-his-children-home/

I’m not raising my voice, I’m not confrontational, I want my kids,” Howe said in the YouTube video, later adding, “I can’t stand in line — I’m walking. Picking my kids up.”

“You’re trying to be difficult. You’re being childish,” Aytes replied.

Howe then referenced Tennessee state law and argued the school’s policy is illegal, further aggravating the school resource officer.

“School is out – My children are to be given to me,” the dad said.

“It doesn’t say when!” Aytes shot back. “School is out, they will give you your child, but it doesn’t say when now does it?”

“Tennessee state law says within a reasonable amount of time, that is 15 minutes,” Howe says in the video, seconds before being put in handcuffs.

“Put your hands behind you back!” Aytes said as he detained the father. “I’m not staying here and arguing with you. You’ve been disorderly.”

The officer then placed Howe in a police vehicle after threatening to arrest his fiancé as well if she blocked traffic while filming him.

Cumberland County Sheriff Butch Burgess told WATE-TV Aytes was only doing his job by “enforcing the law.” However, the sheriff also said he agrees with the father on principle, saying the policy is creating safety concerns because it has created a line of cars along the highway outside of the school.

Burgess said he is reviewing the policy and will make some recommendations this week as to what changes should be made to ensure student safety.

Howe is outraged that he was arrested for trying to pick up his kids. He says he doesn’t need a reason to pick up his own kids from school.

“You don’t need a reason as a parent to go get your children. They are our children,” Howe told WATE-TV.

I don't know exactly what happened but I think that schools are getting pretty possesive of others children, didn't see this around the Shroomery and I'm not 100% its factual. Thought I would post here to inform.

i saw that. I believe it, one time back in high school as a senior my dad picked me up at lunch for an appointment and the school threatened to suspend me because i told the principle my dads wishes superseded the wishes of the school.

Yeah I went through a similar experience when I was a senior in which I was late to school because my mom made me a big breakfast and they tried to get me detention. Called mom and I was excused and that lady fought with my mom until the principle came out and said forget it. That lady hated me everyday since. Luckily, I had an awesome principle who got me out of trouble alot of the time! :mushroom2:

Im scared to have children.  Schools are already doing drug testing to the entire school, whether you like it or not. Randomly bringing dogs in and stuff like that.

Wont be long before they put a chip in your kids neck in order for them to be allowed in school.

I remember being punished in school multiple times because they wanted control over when I took my aspirin, or my hair was 1/4 of an inch below my ears. One time in highschool they let everyone come for orientation, then surprised us all with a barber chair in the cafeteria and head shavings if your hair was even a little too long. I remember I was physically restrained from leaving, even after calling my mother and having her demand my release. I told them that if I was touched again I would be forced to defend myself and they finally let go of me and I ran out the door. My mother later reported them for some serious health code violations, they were fined, I was expelled

My main goal in my life is to find a way to gtfo of this country permanently. Before they start recording every phone call, video taping every move, and gps your neck...if they haven't done so already

I feel ya, I'm getting land in colorado and building a self-sufficient house. Its so hard to get out of the country as that was my first choice as well. If I have kids I think home-school is how I will have to do it :frown: and then I would feel bad for isolating him/her. Idk. Its a pretty fucked situation

theres always private and charter schools. Most actually aren't that expensive. I think the average cost of private school is roughly 3,000 a year.

Yeah, I haven't looked into it because I'm not serious about having kids yet. I will just see what plays out I suppose

We need to take our children away from the government.  It has been a steady decline into ridiculous fascism.

This is what happens when the educational system gets affected with Moonbattery Syndrome.

Damn where did you go to school at? When I went to school we had a principal that seemed drunk all the time. He was bad-ass he would get musicians to come play at assemblies and give us random "community clean up days" and dismiss the school to go clean up the town for the rest of the day pretty much unsupervised. Strangely enough he was the longest lasting principle in the schools history.

The next principle was out of the military and was a hard ass. He did start to implement some stupid rules. His name was actually Mr. Boss.

Granted I'm in a small rural community with a graduating class of around 100.
