that's what i was thinking exactly. the stem on the suspected gym is not hollow, growing in small clusters on wood chips, blue hue at base of stem. I just need a spore print and a TI

so i found gyms?!?!? if so i am very happy. I always wanted to find some.

I think that the Gymnopilus is probably aeruginosus, but I agree with the Hypholoma.

Hah!  I never thought about that...

Maybe one of those heat rocks for reptile tanks you get at the pet store would do better.
I'll try burring one in one of my planters as
next year gets cold like this and see what happens.

Thanks. I scored that out in the middle of nowere at a junk for sale barn. Its pretty basic. Metal box. Shelfs for screens and round hole in back for small fan. The bottom collects the spores for end of the season project.

Does it have a brand name on it?  I need to search and see if I can find any like this.  Never been impressed with the round plastic home driers...
Thought of fabbing one pretty much like this - but who needs the work?  Or using 4 folding doors for a cabinet with shelves up top and my dehumidifier on the bottom.  Big footprint, meh.  Maybe if I could scrounge a good cabinet similar to what you've got I could fab the shelves, got 12v ps, fans, reptile heat mats, etc.

Looks workable to me - maybe add a thermometer to monitor the temp on the ground, make sure you turn 'em off in the am.

I can totally see a couple racoons chillin' in your patch on a frosty night.  Set up a game cam.  ;-)  That'd be a pic worth catching.  I had a good size one knock over a fuscia on my porch rail a few nights ago, trying to haul her fat ass over it.  I opened the door and she's just sittin' there like a cat when they nudge something off the table.  Who, me?

Those gills look notched to me, that would point towards luteofolius.  Although I will freely admit that gyms are not my area of expertise.

don't worry about these guys, i'll return them to some chips. it'd be rude to just chuck em cause they aren't actives.

The the ones with orange prints and green staining are definitively active.
I'd compost the yellow ones with purple spores.

Spore-party!
:offthehook: :prettyflyforawhiteguy:

Lol, just kidding. Do what you want with them.
Maybe try to find a few stumps and rub the spores off on them.

Hello everyone.
I've been looking almost all season and I think I've finally done it. Cyans

Please help me positively ID them and also I have one question that I'm not to sure about after researching.

Is it okay to eat the ones that look really tattered up; almost like they were being eaten or are rotting? Thank you guys have a lovely rest of the season as frost is starting to become more frequent.

Found them all under some trees on a hill side ; dry dirt lots of twigs and what seems like woodchips from a long time ago that have been buried by twigs, leafs, etc.
