hey shroomery I tried to use this gun today that was an older revolver and it did fire a few times but many it did not as if the hammer did not hit the bullet right, I checked it and the cylinder that held the bullets would move a little if I moved it with my hand. could anyone tell me if there is something I don't know or a way to resolve this issue?

i don't know it is unloaded now but as I said something that alarms me is the fact that the cylinder would turn a little side to side when I would mess with it and I don't know if that is the problem or if it is the firing pin. either way I don't know how to fix it

If the cylinder is jammed it might just be rusted. I've actually heard of old revolvers that were stored poorly getting cylinder jamming. How old is it? Do you know if it functioned properly when last stored? If so the cause it almost certainly a bit of corrosion. And you can tell if the rounds were squibs by if the firing pin left a dent in the round's primer or not. If you post a pic we might be able to help you more.

I don't know how old it is because I just got it but I can def tell its not a recently made gun and the cylinder isn't jamming it just jiggles a little when use my hand to move it, nothing extreme like spinning but it seems like it may cause the issue. but I think the firing pin may be okay because it does fire It just hasn't fired consistently and its very much concerning me that I am having so much difficulty firing it. also I may upload pics tomm night but I cant now.

is it hitting the primer on the back of the rounds or is it missing. If it is missing the primer alot and not even hitting the round, its not worth fixing it unless you really love it. Make sure that the cylinder is fully rotating and it locks into position when you cock it.

Its normal for the cylinder to jiggle just a little when you jiggle it. To test the lock up on a revolver you need to pull the trigger and while keeping the trigger held all the way back then try to jiggle the cylinder back and forth. When you do that there should be zero to negligible jiggle as that is how tight it locks for firing and the chamber must be aligned perfectly at that point. Anyway, I think I misunderstood your problem because I thought the cylinder was more or less stuck, not loose like that so I misread the problem. The firing pin as attached directly to the hammer, correct? What model is the gun, if you open the cylinder and look at the frame where the cylinder goes up is where it usually tells the model number and serial number of the weapon. What exactly is the problem, it just doesn't fire sometimes, like the firing pin is light striking the primers or the trigger is too heavy, or??? I'm a little confused about the nature of the problem now.

22 revolvers are nice, they fire anything, longs, shorts or cb caps. I always wanted a 22 mag revolver for real versatility. I was going to inherit one a few years back but let my cousin have it since it was his last name engraved on it, not his first name though, lol.

that's nice of you man, and yeah I like revolvers a lot too. I just shot it multiple times and it only went off onece im pretty convinced now that its the firing pin as the bullets have indentions on them but not like they should they are barely there and I feel the pin just isn't striking well

Dude .22 is a rimfire and if the hammer is not striking the edge of the rim of the casing....it will not fire. THAT IS FOR A REASON....On a revolver, the round has to be centered in the chamber when fired or it could misfire and is a dangerous situation.
DO NOT TRY TO SHOOT IT ANYMORE. Something is worn and it needs to be taken to a gunsmith to get his opinion. Please listen to me, I know what I am talking about....I have a old colt single action that had the same problem.

.22 cal firearms wear down the firing pins quicker than anything else, just for the fact the ammo is the least expensive and usually they endure tens of thousands of rounds more than most weapons
At that age, I'd suspect it's just worn. you can get a new one fairly cheap most of the time, shop around.
