Wondering if there's any good ones out there I haven't tried. Most recent one I played was Blade and Soul on this weird private server where the quests cut off after level 20. But it was damn amazing.
Too bad it's not being released in the NA.
So what's your favorite?

Damn I played ragnarok like 5-6 years ago. Had a lot of fun with that game. Lately I've been playing the Runescape 2007 servers, a lot of nostalgia but there are so many damn bots.

WoW used to be my favorite but I burned myself out playing it. I might try and play again on the next expansion.
LOTRO is really good also. I really enjoyed playing.
Right now though my favorite is FF XIV:ARR

Runescape but I'll most likely never play it again.
I also played Last Chaos for a long time back in highschool.

Man it's gotta be WoW, I played that shit for about 2 years starting with vanilla. IMO the early days were when it was at it's best, the world still felt so large and mysterious...
Played Guild Wars 2 for a while but it was just kinda more of the same...I'm waiting for something fresh and adventurous.

yeah WoW def lost its appeal.. thats why im not playing right now lol but i do want to play it again and get gladiator lol if you havnt tried league of legends i would recommend it since its free to play, and for a free game its pretty fun/competitive
and imo if u played wow in vinella-wrath there will never be another game that compares to that lol, it ruined video games for me cuz now everything i play seems lame cuz it cant compare :/

League is great but I wouldn't really classify it as an MMO.

Massively multiplayer is usually taken to mean you can interact in the same instance with hundreds or thousands of other players, I think.
Whereas something like Diablo, for instance, you can only play with a few others at once. Or League, where it is 5v5 at most.
Doesn't really matter.

I played WoW from the tail end of Vanilla through the beta for WotLK and eventually it just got to the point where it didn't feel like the same game anymore with all of the changes that were constantly happening. I hope the MMO as a genre is fading honestly, at least as we know it. I want more quality single player games and new types of experiences.
I'd be open to an MMO that really shook things up somehow, but I feel like the necessities of being massively multiplayer inevitably end up killing the freedom to be powerful and epic that make video games so great. They just replicate the social competitive drive in simplified digital format, which can be fun no doubt. But it feels less artistic and enriching than other types of games.

Uh.. WoW didn't really have a dramatic enough change to not feel like the same game..
Yeah it changed but it still was the same game and it was obvious you were playing the same game.
They tweaked raiding and how instances were done but nothing so dramatic that it wasn't the same.
Although I will agree that vanilla to wotlk felt completely different. But it wasn't from the changes that were made necessarily. It just didn't capture the same feel and "wonder" that came with the very beginning of the game.
Vanilla especially was incredible because there weren't really any mmo's that were that good before it.

League of Legends is just pimped out dota isnt it? I remember that back in the warcraft 3 days. Good times, I might try it out
It's all about when you start a game and who you play with....final fantasy 11 had its glory days and so many people say its the best, but I missed out on its prime.
I tried the new FF and cancelled my sub, it was just another cookie cutter mmo with shiny graphics. I was pretty disappointed.
My first MMO was Silkroad Online.....so much fun around 6-7 years ago until they raised the cap and the bots invaded. They had this Trader/Hunter/Thief triangular conflict form of open world pvp that was completely original and awesome. But ultimately the developers ruined it and it was a complete grindfest. This was my char

I guess it would be more accurate to say it didn't even feel like I was playing the same class anymore.

I would have liked to play WoW back when it first began but it's so over hyped nowadays and I played the trial a few years ago and just wasn't into it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned EVE. I've trained up a character with a decent number of maxed skills and even have some t2 ships trained. My only problem with it is it seemed difficult to meet new people who don't want to kill you on sight. I never really found a way into the corporate activities as a casual player and after a while the missioning gets pretty boring. I think it's a great game though, and definitely my favorite in a genre I'm generally not fond of. And unlike WoW I think the constant changes CCP makes are for the better. I still pop my head in from time to time to check out all the new bells and whistles.
