ID Request on species found in urban Melbourne region. Are they Pan Cyan..?
    #19167943 - 11/20/13 10:39 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
These were found growing on the lawn beneath some kind of tree I am unsure of the type... The lawn may have been quite nourished but I did not see any manure or anything on it, but the grass is strong and healthy and bulky looking.

Gills:
Colour: On younger specimens the gills are white, on the aged specimens they are black, as can be seen in the photos.
Attachment: They are attached to the stem but only at the last 1mm before the absolute top of the underside of the cap.

Stem:
Length: The length of the stem on my largest specimen is about 10cm perhaps a few centimetres more, on the smaller specimens it can be less than 5cm although perhaps these are very immature specimens.
Colour: The colour is white and I have noticed no real bruising, except perhaps a turning off-white and very light (still almost white) greyish colour.
Diameter: They are less than 1cm in diameter, perhaps closer to 5cm, give or take 2cm on either + or -.

Cap:
Length: The diameter of my largest cap is 3cm, maybe a little more on some of them, but this is in its conic form, they have a larger surface area and if I were to spread it out flat it would be larger of course.
Geometry: They are very conic shaped.
Colour: They are white coloured mainly with patches of light yellow or tan in areas.
Height: About 3cm on my largest specimen.

Spore print color:
The spore print in actually in progress now, but from the appearance of the aged specimens, it looks to be black... I will get back to you dudes with this.

Bruising:
Bruises to a very pale grey or off-white. I bruised them not too long ago, so I will get back to this if it changes...

Other information:
They smell like typical mushroom scent, a wet-ish farinaceous smell I believe it is called. Very similar to the ones you may buy at grocery stores (the white cap mushrooms) although perhaps slightly less intense and a more sweet kind of smell. But certainly a typical mushroom smell...

They are Coprinellus micaceus, or another similar coprinoid.
