I birthed some half pound brf cakes on 10/29 from bags i had.. innoced with F+ aka florida white not that it probably matters.. bags had fully colonized for 18 days, involving several mashes to fully conlize, and 8 days consolidating period. Around novemeber 3rd i noticed a ton of knots.. well ive never had to wait more than 8 days in the past for cakes to pin and some of the knots are turning blue.. this is my first grow since 2006 any help would be appreciated, any smart asses keep your comments to yourselves thank you

What kind of fruiting chamber are you using?
How often do you mist/fan the cake?

I made a sgfc in a relativly small space saving clear rubbermaid, but made the holes 1/8 inch instead of 1/4 due to the fact that i am forced to keep it in a mildly dusty closet..rh has been around 85-90% at all times and fan about 5 times a day while misting when the walls look dry

Im pretty sure your only suppose to mist and fan twice a day. 5 times might be a little over kill but i might be wrong. I do once in the morning when I turn their light on, and once at night when I turn it off and everything worked well for me.

Fruiting is not a sterile process, it is done in open air.
Do not worry about contams when fruiting...fully colonized cakes are contam resistant.
Do not worry about the walls looking dry....you should be worried about the cake looking dry, because you are supposed to mist the cake, not the walls of the fruiting chamber.
Build a proper SGFC with 1/4" holes every 2" in a grid pattern on all 6 sides.....

Too much fresh air, without the proper amount of humidity will dry them out.
Mist the cake directly with a fine mist until it glistens, then fan out the chamber.
Mist again once the water you previously misted has evaporated off the cake, and then fan out the chamber again.
Yes, misting the knots is ok, so is misting pins and fruits.

Spraying the wall is useless its just condensation. Misting just keeps the cake moist. I was told if the walls are wet you are doing it wrong. I didnt beelieve that for awhile. but you really do get a ton of humidity from the perlite. I learned its good to raise the SGFC on some blocks or something so air get through the bottom hole and flow through the perlite. Thought I would throw that out there. I just use some pink floyd CDs. Good luck man

Is it possible that the air in the basement bedroom where my sgfc is located is so stale that it could cause my cakes not to pin? I have alot of patience.. but ive had two half pound brf/verm block-cakes in the sgfc since 10/29, 22 days and ive had knots for 18 days!

I could relocate em to my main house where there is fresher, cleaner air and better lighting, but the problem with my main residence is its jard to keep it above 60-65°F..
