Dumping colonised grains on colonised mono...

Opinions wanted on this please!
I have a mono that will prob be ready for fruiting in about 3 days. I have two print jars of rye that will prob be 100% around same time (they are a couple of slackers that lagged behind the rye that is now colonising the tub).
I am really not bothered about using / keeping this particular set of MS genetics and I am not going to use the jars for any other project. So - I can either dump the 2 jars in the garden OR I thought to myself "why not just pour them on top of the mono? This would increase the amount of food available in the tub and would not pose any increased contam risk??
Stupid or sensible use of these grains?

If you have a sgfc running you could put it in a tray and case it
I wouldn't pour it on top of a fully colonized tub. Sounds like a bad idea

Nah I smashed up my SGFC a while back
I thought it might sound like a bad idea but then I could not think of any reason why seeing as the grain will be contam resistant
Doesn not really matter in the grand scheme of things but...

No, it's been identified as bruising.
Green is a sign of contam.

I wish I could dump subs and the like in my garden. Its so dry here that everytime I try it the pins abort a day after they come up. Not to mention the foot of snow on the ground right now

Yeh it's far too cold to just dump in the garden here for cubes. What I do is throw all leftover subs into my compost bin...nice and warm in there cos of all the metabolic action...hoping when I spread the compost around next Spring for vegetables might get a few cubes pop up somewhere...who knows ey?

I wouldn't. Sounds like you have a healthy sub going there, why mess with it? Either spawn those extra grains to a mini sub and use it for experiments, like RR's wax paper tent FC or something along those lines, or just pitch it. Just layering a bunch of grains on top of your sub ain't gonna do the microclimate at the surface any favors, and while I'm a big believer in not using the coir layer on top when spawning, that is a lot of exposed grain just flapping out there in the breeze.

I wouldnt put it on top of a mono because im pretty sure its not good to have exposed grains, but if you dont care to waste it, id say do a random experiment just for fun.
Use it as spawn to an experimental substrait.

I think it would work, but I don't suggest it. You could always fruit them in-vitro. Take the lid off and put a layer papertowel or two and then put the ring on.

This isn't language I understand bod....my jars are just glass jars with a metal lid - no rings or any of that stuff

Glass jars with a metal lid take the lid off lay a towel down and put the ring back on. The ring that holds the lid is now holding a towel lid. The towel lets more air through

I might be being dumb here but I still have no idea what this "ring" is my jars are literally glass and a metal lid - no rings!
