That's good thinking.
And to OP, I'd really upgrade the DVD drive to a blueray burner or at least a dual layer DVD. Burning a a 4 gig data DVD seems like a lot but its really not anymore if you're like me and backup a lot of data and pictures and stuff you don't want to lose. And you may end up wanting to use your PC as your main entertainment unit as well, and in that case the Blueray drive will be really nice to have too. I'd also add a multicard reader/writer too. Most liekly you have SD cards for your phone or camera and you'll need to interface or dump that data onto your PC from time to time. Its really hard for me to imagine a PC without a card reader, I don't use mine a lot but my camera would be worthless to me without it and they're not much money, like $25 for a great one.
You're really going for the higher end of the sweet spot of price/performance. In two years and those $200 intel chips are $80 your PC will still be kicking ass though.

Im gonna stick to the full sized mobo and plan on doing upgrading in the future.
And thanks for catching that slow HD I chose out, don't know what I was thinking. Upgraded it to the 7200 for the same price, but only get 1TB. Ohe well.

I haven't had the need to burn dual layer DVDs for the past 6+ years and don't think it'll be happening anytime soon.
And I just swapped out HDs.
Also, I've got USB card readers my SD/mini SD, not to mention the USB connector to each device that allows me get into em that way.

My only thought is to spend less money on the case. I mean the obsidian line is nice, I have a Corsair 650d myself, but at $130 if you went with
$70 Corsair Carbide Series 300R Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139011
That's $50 to put into a much nicer gpu like a 650 ti boost or a radeon 7850 or a nicer PSU.
Oh and definitely get the 7200rpm drive, do not get anything energy efficient like a western digital blue or a green drive etc. This is going to be your boot drive, and since it's not an SSD, you want it fast. Western digital black would be a good pick...
Otherwise things are looking pretty decent, not a huge fan of the monitor, those Asus have a heavy antiglare coating that's pretty waxy and the stand is a bit flimsy on the Asus, dunno why so many people order them... would recommend the dell ultrasharp u231hm.. 23" ips display with popping colors and great view angles for like $199....
edit* I also disagree with the other guy, while the cx500 will be fine for your 650ti, it would already be pushing the upper limits for say a 650ti boost... there is no way in hell i'd drop a gtx 770 in the machine w/ it.... the corsair 650tx is a rebranded seasonic psu (good thing) that has lots of future upgrade possibility and is something you could use for builds to come for the next decade... A PSU is lifeblood of your computer, getting a decent one with some nice headroom for any changes you might want to make in future is a good idea... also increases resale value enormously, say I was looking at your build on craigslist, I'd skip right over it w/ a cx500, but would take a serious look with a tx650.

with your setup, it looks like you dont really need anything higher than a
FX-6300, probably in my opinion the best of the FX series so far. It wont bottleneck your GPU, infact you can upgrade the GPU, and I think that 500W is just not enough. Wierd things happen when your computer doesnt have enough power, like throttling, and BSOD's. Look into a 750W PSU at least.

That's not true, the cx500 is fine for the parts he picked.. I'd just recommend the tx650 because it would be suited to run any SINGLE graphics card of his choice, including a gtx 680 etc... there'd be more headroom for future upgrades... But it's mostly a matter of getting all around reliable, quality PSU which Corsair's rebranded Seasonics are... Corsair rebrands several different manufacturer's PSUs... The TX & AX lines are high quality. You don't need to move into the 750w+ territory unless you plan on running an SLI setup, and for say two titans you'd at least want an AX860... For his needs, I recommend the TX because I know as a fact it's highly reliable. There are a lot of high wattage shitty PSUs out there, and with PSUs you pretty much always get what you pay for...if the price doesn't match say 650w = $90+, 750w = $110+, 850w = $130+ something likely sketchy about it....

I wasn't aware that you planned to do future upgrades with this PC. I would get a higher wattage PSU just in case then. Most single GPU video cards use no more than about 250w, but when you throw in an SLI setup, or a dual GPU card, you will want some headroom.
The reason I stopped using a full size board is because I used to always "plan" to do upgrades, but never do. The hardware changes too quickly, so I usually just build a whole new rig.
You look like you are going to have a pretty solid setup going. If you really plan to do the upgrades in the future though, you might be better off saving a little more money and buying everything you want at the same time.
Either way, you should have fun building it and seeing your finished product in action.

yeah, the first thing I'm giong to upgrade will be the motherboard, and right now I cant see any CPU's that are worth upgrading my 6100, i got a nice 800Mhz OC on it.

I like the case you picked out, good for putting side case fans for cooling the mobo, nice and spacious. I have a 250mm on the side. You should experiment with fan placement, meaning intake/exhaust, you'll want more intake, and exhaust at the top. I like to run the back fan in so it hits the cpu and VRM's better.

Nice. Well, I just placed my order for the parts in my latest list. Ended up going with the obsidian 550D as planned. It may not be as fancy as your beast 650D, but I am saving $50 right now.

Good stuff, but I'm gonna put fan experimentation on hold. I didn't realize this case came with 3 fans, 1 rear, 2 front, so I took the extra fans off my list.
However, I am getting a $10 newegg gift card with my purchase, so I might just turn around and buy a few extras once I see how everything handles.

Thanks. I really felt bad about even thinking about buying an alienware. Glad I didn't, and I guess, you're welcome. EVGA?
The 660 was just out of budget for me, and I didn't consider even playing those games. The 650 ti was the best deal I could find at the time, with the 660 being the next card up also had a larger price gap than wanted.
Don't know if you read through everything, but I'm not a too hardcore of a gamer, so I'm sure the 650 ti should be enough.

the 650ti boost though would actually have been a pretty huge upgrade for another $30.... dunno, the graphics card labeling scheme is pretty retarded, as it sounds like it wouldn't be
but it sounds like you'll be pretty happy... when you have cash to dump in the rig the next thing you'll want is an SSD... in terms of every day use, nothing makes your computer feel faster.

I think the next thing he'll want is a cpu cooler. I may be wrong, since I dont know what the max temp for Intel's are. I would have bought one (if I knew intels run hot) , because the MOBO must come out installing most coolers.
Seems like someone is going to assemble this system for you, am I correct? Because I see no software.
