Anyone ever make a still? Lookin for some plans. No luck

Your a disgrace. Your everything thats gone wrong in this world. You're self consumed, no talent, mediocre piece of shit. And i've earned my right to say it. In 1975 i walked Bob Dylan up on stage. Who the fuck are you? I knew The Grateful Dead in 1966. Who the fuck are you? You're nothing... And you'll never be anything. - Douglas Levison

What kind of liquor are you wanting to make?

This is a website you might want to look into: "homedistiller.org" they have compiled a great deal of information concerning methods, safety, as well as some plans.
As for me personally I have very minimal experience in distillation but I have studied it thoroughly and it has interested me for a while, not just for distilling drinks but solvents and for general chemistry as well. I just never make time to actually construct a still. I have had a condenser made for a while I just haven't gotten around to constructing the rest. Maybe someday.

Important question when picking a design.

I'm currently building a keg pot still. Very fun and exciting hobby to get into.

I'll post a pic when it's complete, waiting on a part to come in the mail.

Looks pretty good, except you'd do better to go with a Liebig style condenser instead of the coil. It's much more efficient on power, and you don't have to have fuckloads of ice on hand. I've also had problems with my coil being too cold and condensation forming on my spout.

Im partial to reflux distillation designs personally but have made several different styles. I thought the column on a old milk container about the easiest.

I got the coil for free so I figured I'd give it a try before spending the money on a liebig. I'm confident one load of ice will be plenty in the 5gal.

It won't be. Learn from my mistakes, not yours. Being cheap never pays off.

Well it can't be too bad of an option as the old timers still use it.

Well then you try it. And when you get tired of tripling the cost of your liquor simply by buying ice, you'll realize that old timers also do shit outside on giant stills and they still use running water from a creek, not ice.

I have an ice maker and a well, I'm not too concerned about that. Even if I bought the ice id still be paying ALOT less than retail. I'm not in this for profit.

Well go ahead and try it. I tried 4 different designs and found that a Liebig, although labor-intensive and kind of expensive, works better than anything but a Graham condenser, which is overkill for distilling ethanol.
Again, you can learn from my mistakes and wasted money, or you can try it yourself, but I'll bet $5 that within a year you're gonna want a Liebig. They're less hassle, easier to store, require minimal energy to run and actually work better than a coil in a bucket at knocking down vapors. Plus you don't have to keep changing ice, which is a motherfucker. It melts quick.
I'm not in it for money either, but I like to do more work to begin with and less work later for a better product.
