Winter mycelium...??

I have a nice solid block of phoenix oysters that is coming to the end of it's usefulness as a substrate. However, to waste so much colonized sub seems like a waste. Could I winter the myc, outdoors. Remember, I am in NY. Lowest temps have been in the -20s F. Can I just bury it and make it survive? I have a large pile of wood chips from trees that fell this year. Could I expect it to colonize that?
Thanks!!
Cheers!

I think you would get better responses in the gourmet section. You can ask for this to get moved but I don't know how.
