Need free audio editing software...
    #19160399 - 11/19/13 04:11 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Yet again, I turn to you, Shroomery, to help me out...

You're batting 1.000 so far, so I know someone here can help me.

I need a malware free download of a program that I can upload (for lack of a better term) an MP3, and then take that audio and insert my own over top of the existing track,

It's for a (sort of) gag gift for my lady for Christmas....

Also, is it possible to strip existing tracks of their vocals while leaving the instruments there...or will it just go silent when I insert my quick vocal changes to it?

Thanks a lot.

Feel free to ask further questions if you feel I have missed anything ..

Check out Audacity or Reaper.

Both legitimately free. Audacity can do multitrack stuff, but isn't really set up for it like Reaper is.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

http://www.reaper.fm/

Hope that helps

Edit: you can remove vocals from a track, but it'll sound a bit off. Here's a tutorial... There might be shorter/more effective tutorials on YouTube, I'm not sure.

Go to sony.com. You can download any of their software for a 30 day trial. You want acid pro.

Then go to https://creative.adobe.com/ and download any of their software for 30 day free trail. You want audition.

So...I guess I'll be brutally honest here..

and save the :facepalm:s...I already know, I already know...

My lady is driven crazy by the "Cruise" song by Florida-Georgia Line
(by crazy I mean she utterly hates it)

I want to take the audio, and insert my voice as "Katie" when they say "baby" and make a few other "us-inspired" changes to their song...  "Katie you a song you make me wanna roll my windows down..and cruuuise"

Like I said, it's definitely a gag gift, but I think it'll be more endearing than it is annoying...but I could be wrong.

That;s pretty much all I am wanting to do, so I need an easy interface to work with...

Which of the above options listed would be best, easiest, and quickest for me to use?

Thank you so much, fellas

Audacity is a really good program. Fairly easy to use, too. I would second that one.

(Sorry, don't know much about reaper.)

Actually removing vocals is a huge pain in the ass, unless you have a flawless instrumental track. Even then, it's a bit of a pain in the ass.

If it is a popular song, sometimes you can find an instrumental version on youtube. There are also a few sites that specialize in instrumentals and acapellas. Look around. You might be able to find it. There is also software (both downloadable and stuff you can use in-browser) that will rip mp3s from youtube vids.

If you could get both an instrumental and an acapella it would be ideal. Then you could add the vocals to the instrumental track, minus the words you don't want, and add your own in. If you follow what I mean. All of which is quite simple to do in Audacity. (IDK about reaper)

That would be ideal...

I sort of think it'd add to the funniness, me adding jarring no music vocals to the track...
It'd sound awful, but I feel that would add to the effect I am after

I would only be changing like 3-7% of the vocals I think, though...

So, only the instrumental version wouldn't go so well (as to the fact that I really CANNOT sing)
