SLEEP PARALYSIS Thread
#19159860 - 11/19/13 02:13 PM (10 years, 2 months ago) |

Well,it just doesn't happen,I don't get the paralysis,I can lay still for even 1 hour in bed,I would get a tingling sensation,my nose would start to itch,I would start to feel the need of moving,I would not move and nothing would happen and I would lose my concentration and become stressed out and have constant insignificant thoughts that I can't get rid of. What should I do to enter sleep paralysis, what should I change, what do I do wrong?

What the fuck is the point of this?
This shit used to happen to me when I was a little kid, I would wake up and not be able to move or talk, shit was not fun in the slightest.

Yea sleep paralysis kinda sucks. Usually just uncomfortable. Sometimes you can use it as a lucid dream launch pad tho. Which is kinda cool I guess, mostly just for the novelty of it.
Can't help you though, sleep paralysis is a spontaneous phenomenon for me.
Edit: also, I wouldn't consider sleep paralysis horrifying. It's more if an annoyance

Okay well in that case this is what you do...

I can not guarantee this won't kill you but I can guarantee it will at least paralyze you.

you gotta get really good at 'corpse pose' which is a yoga technique, you basically just lie down and relax your body as much as you can (systematically muscle by muscle). this is the only way to purposefully go into sleep paralysis. although it happens on accident too...
kind of a coincidence, last night i was having kinda sleep paralysis in my dream...but it's only partial, i can actually still move it's just really hard to see and move around.

I had an episode last night, which isn't all that surprising, as I rolled my ass off this weekend and I've noticed a correlation between taking MDMA (and especially MDA) and having sleep paralysis a couple days later.

That's interesting. I've only done MDMA a handful of times so I haven't noticed that, but definitely after periods of being rough on myself (excessive partying, no sleep, etc.) it happens more often.

imo FUCK SLEEP PARALYSIS. At one point in my life it would happen to me multiple times a week. I don't understand how people can enjoy it. I have tried countless times to go with the experience, but it just freaks me out. Fills my body with anxiety and fear even though I know what's up.
I have no idea how to purposely induce it. If I could trade you mine, I would haHA.

if you purposefully induce it, you don't even percieve it as a paralysis, because your consciousness will still be free to do as you choose.

it's normally called astral projection...i dont know why else you would go for it unless you were trying to project your dream body (which is the opposite of paralysis). the thing is, you can do that by getting into states of extremely deep relaxation.

I have successfully achieved OBEs through what I guess you could call sleep paralysis, it's accompanied by this crazy buzzing/vibrations throughout your whole body. I was completely conscious and everything. I've only achieved it twice while not already asleep, and a few times while in a sleeping/dream state.
How to do it is you have to completely relax every muscle in your body, and you have to enter a trance-like state. Once the buzzing starts you have to relax still (as with psychedelic experiences) and take the ride. You also have to remain calm and not get too excited, which has brought me out of that state before.
It's crazy shit though, I've told this before but this happened once while I was in a dream - I was in a rocket and the buzzing started and when all was said and done i was in a really massive skyscraper in the future, standing in a line with other people, I looked out the window and it looked exactly like that new kill zone game which is set in the future, massive metropolis and other massive buildings.

It seems that it is much more likely to have an episode if you are on your back, not your sides.

I'd suggest not drinking or doing drugs for a day or two and get to sleep at decent time and have something startle you awake every hour or so maybe. I had to sleep at a 48 hour observation and woke up with one the second night. Thought it was a demon or a ghost of a dead aids patient. shit was weird man. But yeah I suggest clean your brain out and get to sleep around 10 or 11 and have a recording playing that will jolt you out of sleep quick every now and then around 2 3 and 4 or something. I don't really know though. Never tried to do it on purpose. Just figured it had to do with being in a shitty place sober.

I feel it is better to relax completely and just ride it out, of course I've had scary monster type shit happen too though, but I always try to relax and realize what's happening.

do you smoke weed?
when i smoke weed, i cannot obtain sleep paralysis at all... ive experienced sleep paralysis Atleast 100-200 times in my life, it would happen every other day, sometimes twice a day, whenever.. im sure the numbers i posted are actually higher times since, shit now that i think about it ive had experienced it since i was young pre-teens
also, just to point out, i was able to maintain sleep paralysis without weed as well as sleeping on my stomach, i think it has to do with the fact your breathing less, im not sure, all i know is i would wake up everytime feeling like i was suffocating and could not control my breathing n then i would have to constantly 'build my energy' and try to break free, its scary as fuck!
sometimes ill see myself in third person too which is wierd, like someone is watchin me n im through those eyes

also, just to point out, i was able to maintain sleep paralysis without weed as well as sleeping on my stomach, i think it has to do with the fact your breathing less, im not sure, all i know is i would wake up everytime feeling like i was suffocating and could not control my breathing n then i would have to constantly 'build my energy' and try to break free, its scary as fuck!
sometimes ill see myself in third person too which is wierd, like someone is watchin me n im through those eyes
]
I saw something on discovery about it. It has to do with the part of your brain that stops you from acting out your dreams. It stays active, for reasons unbeknownst to me, even though you are awake.

This shit used to happen to me when I was a little kid, I would wake up and not be able to move or talk, shit was not fun in the slightest.
Ditto. Sometimes I'd feel like my head was where my feet were an hear crazy "werring" noises over my head. Felt like I was being abducted.
duude. The first time I had sleep paralysis I swear I heard an actual thump behind my head coming from this wardrobe thing...thats what woke me up...then I noticed I couldn't move....what made this experience all weird was that everyone always claimed that that room held my uncle danny's spirit and also my grandpa johnny had also just died in that house....well not in the house but that's where he lived. when I heard the noise this is what I immediately thought of and then felt an energy rush from where I heard the thump down through my head and through my body...anyway Ive had sleep paralysis like 2 more times after that...I think Ive been getting it due to benzo withdrawals or just that messing with my chemical balances...It doesn't scare me anymore I just wait it out and then can move

Every once in a while i'll try, and force myself to move while in sleep paralysis. Sometimes i'll manage to lift out of my body, but i then feel as if gravity is 100x heavier. Never can get passed that stage though.

i used to do this to myself ALL THE FUCKING TIME in college, though i didn't figure out til later that i was doing it to myself.
i did an experiment for like a year where i took 2 caffeine pills every hour and tried to live on a polyphasic sleep cycle. basically only sleeping for one hour at a time, then getting up and doing stuff. i was working 3 part time jobs and going to school full time so... iono, it seemed like it could be productive.
yea, anyway just take a bunch of caffeine pills and fall asleep. in my case, i was taking a few caffeine pills in the middle of the night, masturbating super slowly to pics of asian chicks, then falling asleep on my back naked. i think it happened without the masturbating too.
yea i would wake up and just hear this super loud whirring, like the sound of a fan going, and feel like i was infinitely falling downward, and not be able to move or make any noise. sometimes it would be really creepy, and even though i was conscious i would think there was an ogre or a demon in the room watching me. the dreams would be SUPER vivid too, like riding on a speedboat with black slithering monsters under the water chasing me, or my organs boiling in a pot of soup, or standing in a parking lot and suddenly lions would charge out of the woods and attack me.
anyway... i had to quit that lifestyle. you turn into a psycho because basically you are always running on auto pilot and you don't fully process stuff, especially other people.
[EDIT] oh god, plz nobody mind rape me tonight!

Sleep paralysis are strange to want. Having whispers because I forget to turn off the television or having something looking at me at edge of my bed smiling. One time I had one where it was an alien that made me start struggling to get up. Finally got up to beat the shit out of it only to succeed for a couple seconds and just woke up out of my bed.

I can't believe I actually made it.Last night I managed to enter sleep paralysis after about 3 hours of trying. So here's what I did: 1.Intense exercises for 20 minutes, snorted 1 line of concerta(its like ritalin) and took 50mgs of zolpidem. 2.Masturbated slowly for about 40 minutes. 3.Started relaxing every part/muscle of my body from toe to head(it took about 30 minutes because I did it slowly) 4.Started to hear a ringing in the ears,my nose started to itch,I remained relaxed and concentrated and imagined myself moving my body, changing my position in bed(did this for about 10 minutes) 5.My entire body became very heavy and I felt my heart beating in every muscle in my body.(happened about 10 minutes later) 6.Felt a strong vibration,it was like someone was putting 10 blankets over me.(5 minutes later) 7.Couldn't move, opened my eyes, heard whispers and saw an old man staring at me,panicked a bit, closed my eyes, tried moving my toes, got out of sleep paralysis and then fell asleep. I must say that it was really fun and interesting,I can't wait to do it again! xD but I have a question, did the drugs that I use helped me enter sleep paralysis? can I enter it without zolpidem and concerta? what effect did they have?

I found out about inducing sleep paralysis a few years ago and while I've been able to get into to it a few times briefly, I mainly use the steps to fall asleep now. I lay flat on my back, head facing toward the ceiling, and arms by my side. I just lay completely still, focus on breathing, and that helps me fall asleep pretty quick at night.
If I'm trying for sleep paralysis I'll focus my thoughts more on projecting outward. I can usually get to the strong body buzzing once a week, but I usually get too excited and get knocked out of it. The body buzz is SO FUCKING COOL though. It feels crazy.

The thread that got him banned talked about him being friends with a killer, and hardcore criminal he can go do hardcore criminal things with. If op isn't a troll then you should probably seek some help.

It's not that you couldn't be serious. It's that it's stupid. I guess to be honest I find it very fucking hard to believe you enjoy being really tired, mentally exhausted to the point of seeing movements and your brain is a broken record. I don't think it's possible for someone to enjoy anxiety not for long anyways. You enjoy being scared? You're not really scared if you enjoyed it now are you?

U summed up what i've been wanting to say since i saw his "help me become schizo" thread. I really don't get people who say they enjoy pain. If you are enjoying it then it is not pain, and fear. Op likes beimg scared someone should do him the favor of mailing him anything without him knowing the contents, and alert the bpolice. That should scare you enough right op?

Something weird happened to me because of constantly sleep depriving myself,a defensive mechanism in my body was triggered and now I can't stay awake for more than ~12 hours(I know, this is really fucked up,after 12 hours I simply pass out) so,I've got a question,do dreams occur only in REM sleep? I mean,if I wake up every 2 hours in order not to reach REM sleep so I can become psychotic after a week or so,is it normal to dream in those little periods of sleeping or I'm actually hitting REM in less than 2 hours of sleep?

Your profile pics creep me out
I hope it is a joke :-) , and you dont enjoy suffering
anyway, lay down for 1-2hours, dont move, pay attention to your body parts going numb
then you will feel like something heavy being put on you
start to hear noises etc.
thats when it starts
important thing is, just relax, no noise in environment, be healthy/healthy lifestyle

Dreaming does happen elsewhere in sleep. In fact, you usually start to dream as soon as you fall asleep, which is how sleep paralysis occurs.

Thank you for your answer, this was exactly what I wanted to hear,so,this means that vivid dreams generally occur in REM phase of sleep, but dreams can occur in any phase of sleep.Thanks.

I find the best way to fix it is to get up and have a glass of water or make a snack.
maybe even just turning on the light and walking around for a bit.
for some reason, if you try and wake up again before going back to sleep it can help
