Petri dishes instead of jars?
    #19159486 - 11/19/13 12:41 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I have lots of unsealed plastic petris I don't know what to do with... Was wondering if they can be used to create flat cakes... I do non sterile work with manure and consolidated myc balls... So contams are not my major concern...  Just wondered if it's possible to get a good flush if the cake is only 1/2" thick?

I like the dishes because they give good GE and they are much smaller in volume than half pint jars... Thus it takes less time to colonize which serves well if using pasturized manure (i think)

(Picture my dish setup as if it was a bunch of trays, but just much smaller)

Thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't work if that's what you really want to do.

Excellent!

Btw I'll try it and if this works this may be cool since an sgfc could be made from a smaller box...

Updates to come

Thanks

Edit: as I edit this, I have placed the dish in incubation (for future reference)
