Dark Purple Hedgehogs...???!!!!!

I found these growing next to a decaying old-growth conifer stump. There were several normal-colored hedgehogs within the same size range (cap diameter approx. 4"-6"). They are deeply colored purple, firm in texture, with the signature hedgehog trademarks. I can find no information on this variety on-line or in any of the mycology books I have. These were found around 1800' elevation yesterday on the SE side of the Mt Hood National Forest.
Are there any other mushrooms with the spiky undersides similar to hedgehogs? And if not, has anyone seen dark purple ones? They are absolutely beautiful, but am hesitant to eat them....

I just found one of these, or similar, tonite. Stopped on the way to the store and grubbed for a few matsis, when I saw this I had to bring it home but the light was almost completely gone. I thought I'd pretty much tracked it down to Sarcodon scabrosus, but I'm waiting for daylight to be able to really see it, it's very dark. Can't tell if it has purple tones or not...
OP - can we get a better shot of the caps? What litle I can see looks much smoother than what I found... Is it really meaty?
-------------------- "Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats." "The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

Yes, hon, but there's no substitute for natural light, especially for tints. Not that there's much today, gray and quite wet...
No tint on these, I posted crappy pics in the pnw fall thread...

Hi- I just found this thread in a google search for "purple hedgehogs", and then created an account at the Shroomery just so I could reply (I've also grown several pounds (dry weight) psilocybe cubensis over the years(years ago but I still have a spore library in my fridge), so I figure its ok for me to join.
I was out today about 2,000 foot elevation in the Klamath river region of nor-Cal, about 20miles or less from Oregon as the crow flies.
Underneath conifer mainly, fir, pine, cedar but there were some Madrone also; found a matsutake then all the sudden I was like "what the hell is that?"
I've found quite a bit of hawkwings, aka black hedgehogs before, I have a box of them drying right now even so Im pretty familiar with them but this is something else.
Black hedgehogs are black to grey to brown, this is purple with some orangish to brownish orange, but purple. It is not quite as dense as a black hedge, but maybe a little more solid then the standard hedge hog.
It is more like the standard hedgehog then the black hedgehog IMO, but different then both.
I can tell by your pics that we found the same shroom.
My pics really suck but this is what I have

Sarcodon fuscoindicus is great for dying blue/purple, little side note.
