Psilocybe mushroom identification question.

Paul Stamets said in a psychoactivity conference that if a mushroom A. bruises blue and B. has a purple brown spore-print that it is Psilocybin active and safe to eat. Are there any exceptions to this rule other than there being mushrooms that meet these criteria yet are not psilocybin active but safe to eat?

This is true, also if the print is black.
Make sure you see blue "bruising" not just blue pigment in the mushroom

It's an easy rule for someone who is experienced in finding psychoactive mushrooms. Look up Stropharia cyanea to see where complications arise.

Thank you, your answer however begs the question are there any mushrooms that have a black spreprint and bruise blue that are toxic in any way?

What he meant was that the closest thing to a complication with this rule is that there are several blue mushrooms that fade to some other color, and that the remaining blue blotches or tints can be confused with bruising.
There are no toxic mushrooms with a black spore print that turn blue in response to tissue damage.

I will go as far as saying there are no known poisonous mushrooms with a black spore print. Be careful to ensure you have a truly black spore print and not just very dark brown. You can tell best around the edges between where the spores have fallen.
