Monotub too dry?

I've been reading around about monotubs stalling and I believe my tub is too dry. I spawned 6 qts of spawn to my substrate of 50/50 coir/verm.
It has been over two weeks and the tub is about 15% colonized on top. I cracked the lid a bit and grabbed a chunk of substrate with a sterile, gloved hand/arm and crumbled the substrate which was dry in the middle. (It was in a chunk when I picked it up, not just loose on top.)
There has been NO significant growth for about 5 days now.
Should I mist the tub 2 or 3 times a day, and if so, for how many days?
In the pictures, the tub seems to have adequate water inside, but the substrate seems just a bit too dry and I do not want to ruin the entire tub.
Here's some pics:

A proper field capacity sub spawned with clean spawn at a decent ratio between 1:2 - 1:4 that was properly mixed should not take more than 10 days IMO. I doubt that thing will see fruits no matter what you do. Hopefully I'm wrong. In the meantime get another grow going just in case this one bites the dust.

Yeah, and if it's that dry in the middle no amount of misting will do. You're going to need to take some water and actually mix it into your sub until it's properly hydrated, but it might be too late.

Not encouraging comments, but I appreciate the feedback. The sub. is moist for the most part and not completely dry. I'm going to try and mist for a few days and see if anything changes. I hate to throw out an entire tub. But I guess that's how it goes sometimes
I have four quarts of colonized jars ready to go for another tub, but I can't spawn until almost January as I'll be out of town in the middle of december.
Any other posts will be much appreciated.

Also: I may have layered the top of the spawn/sub a little too deep. Maybe 3/4 in whereas I see people say use 1/4 to 1/2 in of unspawned sub to cover grains. Could it be that the spawn is trying to colonize the top of the substrate sort of like a casting layer only it can't completely colonize it because there is too much sub on top? I believe under the top layer, the sub is almost completely colonized. If this is the case, is there a way to remove the top layer of uncolonized sub. and fruit what is underneath? A post I was reading said he was going to vacuum off the top layer but comments told him to not to do that.

do not do that, just leave it, it's just coir/verm and t the 50/50 ratio you used it may just act as a casing layer of it's own, just run with it and see what happens if it pins early fruit it, if it colonizes great! if it's truly hat dry just mist the fuck out of it provided it was at field capacity when you pasturized

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

Will do. Thank you. I am trying to hydrate the tub and I have allowed a bit more GE for the tub. **Not FAE, just GE**

I'll lead with I am practically a noob,
but if you're goin in there every few days/hours you're going to introduce fresh air, which in return will lower the co2 which will result in less pins and a possible early fruiting even without ideal conditions.
I would just soak it once, and hope for the best.
Perhaps a quart of sterilized tap water?

Seems logical. Thanks for the input.
