What happened to the "original" Dread Pirates Roberts?
    #19155030 - 11/18/13 04:07 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

like there's this new one taking over the reestablished site, but what happen to Ross Ulbricht? It's like everyone forgot about him when the tide of people swapped over to the other marketplaces. Is he being sentenced? is he free because they didn't have enough evidence? is he dead? is he the new DPR? It's all cococococo

No, the new DPR is almost certainly not him.
No, he's probably not dead.

Probably on his way to prison.

If you've seen The Princess Bride, DPR switches people like that.

Come on guys, we all know that the original DPR is running the road still.  The guy they got in custody (Ross Ulbricht) is just an innocent bystander.

I really hope they let Ross free, because I feel like he's a scapegoat for a greater plan. He also has his family to think about. A modern day Walter White. Also, BITCOINS ARE FLYING THROUGH MY HEAD LIKE NO TOMORROROWOW get in before the drop.

"Get in before they drop"? That makes no sense. If you think they are going to drop, get out!

The statement just doesn't make sense whether the price drops sooner or later. It should logically be "get in before the price rises a lot higher".

and you don't think its gonna "rise a lot higher"? There will only be a maximum of 21 million of these coins. China a population of >1 billion has begun using the coin. Does the demand not exceed the supply?

By that logic, America a population of >300 million has been using the coin for over a year.

True stuff, but not everyone knows about bitcoins. Let's just hope everyone wins in the end.

lol @ "get in before the drop"  This is the moronic logic that leads to economic bubbles.  If the price is high, you are already too late to get in.  Wait for it to  crash, then get in and hope it recovers, then sell when it does... but get OUT before the next drop.

But whatever, you just keep on buying when the prices start to skyrocket, thinking "if the price is rising, it must be a good thing!!"

All the more money for me.  I love bubbles.

There is a reason they did that.. It's fairly obvious the reason why. Although there will be negative consequences from using that name as well but using that name sends a message to the authorities and people around the world that they can't stop what is happening.

it's pretty obvi to people dpr is no more/ in prison whatever , so acting like dpr is sending out messages or has put things back up is bullshit and is clearly not him . people are smart enough to know it isn't him who set up silk road 2.0 and that he isn't the one posting in the new forum

Hey, after surfing the web for a bit it turns out Wired wrote an article about the take down of Silk Road, and published the article earlier this morning. Coincidence?

What are you even talking about?

I wasn't saying its the same person... I'm saying the "ideal" that DPR was trying to promote has been carried on by the new DPR using his name.

I've never watched it either, LOL. But if you read anything that the previous DPR said he was all about the ideals of being "DPR" and what the free market for drugs could do.. I mean put two and two together.

There are a number of benefits that come with taking the name.

If you've never watched it, you don't know the origin or meaning of the title "The Dread Pirate Roberts". I suggest your torrent and watch it immediately. Its a good movie besides.

That's not what I meant. I will watch it though for sure.

What I was saying can be used for tons of things, not exactly the "origin" or the meaning of the title.. I mean that could be important as well.

I was just saying that taking a name of someone that was crusading and trying to change the way the world operates (as opposed to drugs) and give more "freedom" to the people in that regard... Effectively sends a message to authorities and everyone else that hey... you caught the guy but you haven't stopped anything.. You just put a cork in it for a second until it bubbles over and explodes again.

That's all I was saying.
