pf cakes turned beige/yellow after birthing

i birthed these two cakes about 3 days apart from each other. the first one (came out of the jar completely white and beautiful looking myc)i dunked for about 4 hours in the fridge for a cold shock and then rolled in verm and put in the fc. 3 days later no signs of anything and it turns this color. i birth another and decide this time to dunk in room temperature for the same amount of time and then not roll just put right in the fc. fc is around 78 f. 3 more days and the whole 2nd cake turns the same color. no pins on either. im fanning around 8 - 9 times a day and misting twice. misting only when the cakes look dry. i know this yellow/beige/brown color is associated with dead mycelium or overcoming some sort of bacterial contam, but it smells very mushroomy in the fc. i also have other pics of the jars that are 90% done, which also appear to have some sort of bacteria/yeast, yet the myc seems strong in them and looks to be winning the fight. am i still being too optimistic about these producing edible fruits, or do they look dangerous. any insight would be appreciated.

That's pretty weird. I had patches of that same color on one of my cakes and figured it was bacteria, so I threw it out. Considering both of your cakes are looking the same, I'd keep them for now and hope for the best. Somebody more experienced may be of more help, good luck.

Im just a noob, so im not sure... Could be bad, could be nothing. Id say just wait and post plenty of pics of your fruits so people can make sure everything looks good!

What are they made of? Maybe you put in too much of something. I like to wait until I see pins on the cake before I birth them that way you know it will fruit as soon as you put in into the chamber. This one is a little too much but you get the picture that's why they say to let it sit for up to a week after it is fully colonized. Then I just soak it for a couple of hours roll it in a mixture of dry casing, pop it into the FC, let it sit for another hour mist it then they fruit within 24 hours or less.
