in response to all you faggots who think that the saints call was BS, how about reading the rules, and seeing that the NFL has backed up in multiple statements already that it was the correct call. Go watch the slow-mo.
he hit him in the neck. End of discussion.
just like being inside the tackles, even though 10 yards back off of them = "the pocket". apparently "the pocket" means inside the tackles all the way back to the opponents end zone.. and his throw got to the LOS as well as having a receiver who would have been in the area if he hadn't given up on the play.
there were a lot of bad calls and no calls in that game, against both teams, I concede that point, but this RTP call was not one of them. there are about 5 different pictures and gifs that plainly show his forearm on his adams apple and then later taking him to the ground via a facemask.
totally correct call.
How about we talk about the intentional grounding call against brees... not about whether or not it was IG, but rather that Harbaugh harangued and berated the refs for 30 seconds and THEN they threw the flag. Almost 45 seconds after the play was thrown dead and you throw a flag? that is the most blatant ref goading ever and they actually crumbled. such bullshit.
im not being a sore winner, but all this "saints cheated a game out with 4 minutes left in a one score game in the 4th quarter" nonsense is pathetic. I whined about the patriots egregious holding no call that there is video evidence of 2 refs staring directly at on the LAST PLAY OF THE GAME, not some almost 3rd quarter call that has no reason for anyone to whine about.
Brooks went high, and he had a choice to not do that. his shoulder made contact with his helmet first, and then he was clotheslined to the ground and partially facemasked further. It was a good call many times over.
49ers fans want to whine about something, whine about the guy hitting sproles after a fair catch, whine about not getting a 1st down in the 1st quarter, whine about only getting 3 points of real offense (not off turnovers at the 22 and 10).
and how has no one talked about the corey white ball that didnt get fumbled out of the endzone and was obviously fumbled out of bounds at the 3 yard line. the only reason that call wasn't overturned was because there wasn't an angle showing that.
the 49ers got the ball back and had a chance to put the game away while it was tied 20-20. they didn't get it done. also, it is a total fabrication that the 49ers recovered the "sack fumble". they didn't and I have no idea what that reporter for CBS is smoking to keep espousing that. the saints recovered that, so at best the game would have gone into OT.

Haha
Good to know even saints fans know they got away with one there.
Oh and the cameras clearly showed willis recover the fumble on that call that gave you the win.

did you even read that? it wasn't something the saints "got away with". it was a hit to the neck. it isn't even disputable with all the pictures and clips around in slow-mo. I think some of you need an anatomy lesson about where the neck is located on the body.

where is the neck located? some might say it is that area between the shoulders and the chin.
would you consider him to have "... use(d) hands, arms or other parts of the body to hit the passer forcibly in the head or neck area."?
someone explain to me how that gif does anything but show an arm hitting the head or neck area. please explain it to me because obviously I don't have my whining panties on and it is hard for me to ignore facts backed by video evidence.

i also like how "it gave us the win".
maybe for 31 other teams in the NFL being down 3 points with 4 minutes left and 3 time outs means a loss, but not for the saints.
the 49ers got the ball back and had a chance to put the game away with more than 2 minutes on the clock and went 3 and out with kaep being sacked twice.
it isn't even a questionable call. it was the right call. video shows that. what argument do you have that disputes that video? swamp gas ignited and caused a lens flare that when coupled with the angle of the camera and the shade of the black and gold it appeared.... whatever. grasping at straws.
if it wasn't that play, they would have picked something else to whine about in the 3rd quarter or maybe that their plane had turbulence and the latent humidity of the gulf coastal city made their throats scratchy.

It's a bad call because WHAT THE HELL ELSE WAS HE SUPPOSED TO DO?! You want him to crawl over there and lightly grab Brees' legs next time? Maybe they should just play flag football then. It's not the defenders fault Drew Brees is short and his arm just naturally happened to hit his neck. Like I said before, what else could he have done? He made the absolute perfect play in the situation and somehow got punished for it.
I can understand all the bullshit about helmet to helmet, sure. But a defender simply putting his arm around the QB and inadvertently touching his neck should not be a penalty. He made a classic football tackle to me, nothing else.
Maybe next time he'll lower his arm and just run right by Brees and not even touch him, sounds like a safer bet eh?
Edit: The more I watch the video the more you are wrong. HE CLEARLY HITS HIS CHEST AND HIS NECK WHIPS BACK FROM THE FORCE. You can tell because his shoulders move back FIRST, and his neck stays in place for a second, then his neck whips back with the rest of his body. So, if the neck is the last part of his body to move backwards then it's obvious it wasn't the part that was hit. It's actually ironic that you post that video and say we all need anatomy lessons, it clearly shows you're wrong

I see where you are coming from, but a rule is a rule
I know you guys don't like it but as I said months ago the Saints are serious contenders for the SB this season

I thought the hit looked a lot worse in slow mo than in real time and my first instinct was that it shouldn't of been a penalty. I mean, an Eagles guy slapped the QB's helmet in the Green Bay game last week... 15 yards for touching the helmet. That's the NFL today My biggest problem is that it's protect the QB at all costs but that same protection isn't offered to running/scramble QB's, even in the pocket. I've seen Vick takes hits that would've been penalties/fines for Peyton or Brees and he doesn't bitch for a flag every down like RG3. the only thing consistent about QB protection in the NFL is that it is inconsistently called depending on the QB.
Got fucked up in Pick em this week. Oh well. I gotta go for upsets if I wanna catch up to mothafukka dety.

Raging out calling everyone faggots is flaming, this isn't OTD, and I don't show partiality between users. Not one reason to go on a tirade blasting folks with a bigoted term, keep that crap in OTD. Any other questions regarding this should be directed to me in PM and not in this thread/forum/board.

Not good but he is back on the sideline and they say might come back for a few snaps.

Huge win for a young up and coming Carolina team. They are really turning up the heat on the saints. Kinda surprised so many of you guys picked the Panthers. Thought i was gonna get a jump on a lot of you.
Too bad the fucking refs gave the aints the win. That shit is still pissing me off. Don’t know what the fuck i was doing picking green bay other than that i had a pretty dece week. Coulda been great but didn’t play out
Congrats to the only dude who picked both the Bills and the fins. That will be huge.

Seriously, I thought I was taking a big risk going for Panthers and go figure almost everyone else did And I went with Green Bay too. Their run game didn't get going from what I saw which really worked us against the Eagles. And that pick 6 was terrible.

Am I the only one who thinks that Ray Lewis's reasoning doesn't stand up? He basically says that this call is a joke because Drew Brees is too short?
Btw he is the same guy who said that last year Superbowl blackout was a conspiracy
