monotub questions

Ive had some decent success using pf tek & id like to move up to bulk but i still have a few things im not exactly clear on.
Im planning on growing pe, spawning 4 quart jars of grain & then doing daimons 50/50 coir/verm tek.
How much water should i use for 1 brick coir & 2 quarts verm? I know i need to get feild capcity but id like to have as little contact with the sub as possible to avoid contams & squeezing/straining water out really seems like it could introduce contams. I want to get as close to perfect moisture content as i can by just adding the water.
What size monotub would be best for this ratio? Generally i see 56qt & 66qt tubs everywhere i look & cant seem to find a bigger size thats clear.
Will the tek work with a lower spawn ratio? It doesnt seem like it would be much of a problem using 4ats spawn instead of 5qts other than maybe slower colonization once in the monotub but my experience is limited.
The bag of verm i have has been opened & sitting in a droor. Is it still useable or could it have contams that wont be killed by the boiling water in the bucket?
What would work better for covering holes? Im leaning towards micropore tape because it seems like it would work better than polyfil but im not sure what micron size would be best

How much water? - It's in the description. 4 quarts of water.
What size monotub would be best for this ratio? - 56qt is enough, I use it too.
Will the tek work with a lower spawn ratio? - Damion5050's Coir TEK says, use 5qt's of spawn. I used 6 PF cake (it's 1,2qt) and three weeks later, it started to fruit. It's an extreme sample, but it works. So, dont worry, 4qt is good enough.

I like to go to.Google and type in bulk substrate calculater

The tek tells you how much water to use. Introducing contams isn't a thing until it is necessary to be sterile, like after you sterilize your substrate and you're mixing spawn. This is when you're most prone to contams. What I would suggest is learning to properly pasteurize and start things off "right" from the beginning of your bulk adventures.

What size monotub would be best for this ratio?
The answer to this question is entirely dependent on the LxW dimensions of the tub and the depth of the substrate.
Ex.
1 brick of coir = 8-9 quarts hydrated coir so 8.5 quarts coir + 2 quarts verm + 4 quarts spawn = 14.5 quarts total.
Take the 66 quart monotub rough LxW dimensions of 26"x15" with a substrate depth of 3" - 26x15x3=1170 cubic inches to fill in each 66 quart tub.
How many cubic inches of substrate go into a quart? 57.75
Therefore, 57.75 x 14.5 = 837 cubic inches.. which is not even close to the 1170 you were trying to reach in order to attain the 3" substrate depth.
If you want to make it where each Damion5050 bucket + spawn gives you a perfect monotub with no excess or shortage then just do a little math.
The easiest way would be to work backwards.
837/3=279 so your LxW must equal 279.
Container LxW possibilities 11*25 12*23 13*21-22 14*20 15*18-19
I'm not about to do everything for you. If you want a deeper substrate, or decide to change how many quarts of spawn you want then just plug and chug. This is like 5th grade math, I believe in you!

yes.

yes.

People tape for colonization and either micropore or polyfill for fruiting.
I prefer polyfill, easily adjustable.

the verm should be fine, dont worry about it, the boiling water will be dealing with that the micropore will work, but if u have a decent teddy bear or a pillow, dont be afraid to tear it apart
i used these big size plasters on a monotub( i was out of polifyl..), similar to this one, and had no problem with it
