Hi guys this is my first grow. I birthed the cake and did the dunk and roll tek. The cake has been sitting in the shotgun fruiting chamber for 6 days and still no mushroom heads instead i got this fluffy like mycelium growing. Is this normal please and will the cake fruit ? The fluffy mycelium grew in the chamber when the cake was birthed no fluffy mycelium was in sight.
Thanks alot guys I appreciate it.

Your relative humidity is most likely too high, how often have you been fanning?

Ive seen pics of cakes 10 times fluffier than tha and still fruited.. but i would reccomend not misting em for a couple days and pleanty of fae and maybe the puffiness will go down.. ive never had a cake turn into a puffball though.. can you gove some details on what you have been doing as far as caring for it?

I have been fanning the cake about 3 times a day. i have not misted them again apart from the first misting after rolling. Humidity is 99% and temperature is about 65-70.

Try to lower the humidity to maybe 90%… tip your tub a little and see if theres any water that gathers in the corner. If so use some clean paper towels to absorb it out.. is there enough holes in your sgfc?

try to fan more than 3 times a day, it can be the excess CO2, i saw trays with similar overlay, but they fruited after all

holes should be on the 6 side of your sgfc(terrarium) bottom AND top too for a proper FAE(fresh air exchange)

you might skip the top to keep the humidity

^that dudes got no idea my friend. disregard that statement, its complete horse shit!
a properly built shotgun fruiting chamber is a container of at least 18", with 1/4" holes drilled every two inches on ALL SIX SIDES.
air rises through the 3-5" of wet perlite dragging humidity with with.

you need fresh air intake, circulation, evaporation of the substrat to induce pinning, that is why you need holes on 6 side of your sgfc

if u put wholes on the top, all the shit from the air in your room will settle on your cake right through those wholes, just my 2 cent..

air rises? what u were looking for is water evaporating..because of the texture of the perlite and the heat in the FC boil water put the lid on top? do u need air circulation ? as the temperature rises, the water evaporates due to the higher molecular movement present in the water.
the shotgun has the holes so the excess co2 can exit and fresh air can go in. u still have plenty of fresh air without the holes on the top. considering ur environment is not as clean as a lab, keep the lid as it is
what op should do is to drill holes on the exact level of the perlite, so the co2 can flow out

Aero..clean your room!
xelzin, just make a shotgun fruiting chamber(terrarium with holes on the 6 SIDE,) and it should be elevated so the bottom holes can breath.

for that u would need a HEPA running 24/7 open a fresh agar plate in your CLEAN room for 30seconds, then close it back put it into your incubator, let me know how clean the air is...

Aero, you pile of Shit! Stop spreading mis-information!!!
A fully colonized cake is contaminant resistant because the mycelium will fight off bacteria and viruses. Putting holes above or on the perlite level will not rid the co2. Co2 is heavier than o2, but will not settle out of the air. There are too many factors to account for in a room. You would need still air.
Read some more before bashing on anyone.
