quick question for the experienced

after i dried out some actives i found in cow pasture they have a bit of a amonia smell are they still edible or are they contaminated

Are they mushy? How did you dry them? Were they cracker dry?

died them with a fan then put in a paper bag and put in a glass jar for a week they are not mushy but not like a cracker should i dry them more or just eat em

Sounds like some bacteria are eating them.
Next time put some desiccant in the jar with them.
They might still be good to eat or they might make you sick. If you are going to eat them it would be best to toss them into boiling water to make tea. As soon as you toss them in you can turn the heat off, or maybe like a minute later...

+1 to what Alan said.
Just my personal preference - if they smell like ammonia, I don't think I'd eat them with out making a tea out of them(or at all- they make more). It would be a downer if you got sick during your trip.

i boiled them for 2-3 min but didnt grind them up or should i have grinded them up

It is generally a good idea to grind them to increase the surface area.
