Hello everyone!! I am gone from my babies till Thursday of next week. I left them with about a penny left to consolidate. I would really like to know how big of a monotub I would need for 6 half pints. I am planning on doing franks tel but I am not using quarts. But to be honest I have no idea how big of a tub to get to have about 4 inches worth of substrate? I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around how much vermiculite and coir I should use for 6 half's and also how big a tub I should pick up.

I don't want to buy more half pints. So I just want to buy quarts to pasteurize in so I can move my future grows to quarts and not have all these half pints laying around.

Did you need to make one of those still-air boxes for the inoculation? You know, a box with holes you stick gloves in?

No sir, I used the oven method. Working great, just make sure you are using a lighter and rubbing alcohol after each inoculation.

The oven method is bunk....I would not recommend doing sterile work in an oven EVER.
The next best thing to a Laminar Flow Hood is still air, not a dirty oven that constantly has heat currents blowing contams all over your work.
Also, wiping a flame sterilized tool with an unsterile substance like alcohol is like wiping shit on your face after a shower.
Flame sterilize between jars without wiping the needle with anything afterwards...just expunge a drop or 2 of spore solution to cool the needle prior to inoculation.

Listen bud. He asked me what I used, so I told him..I don't need you being a dick on my posts. This option worked great for me because my oven was brand new never used. I also did not do it inside I set them on the door. So that the extremely hot air was blowing out and sucking into my hood system. Maybe answering my question would be a better use of your time instead of mocking my method. Which worked great.

It's piss poor technique, discussed over and over here. That's all he was saying. I'm glad it worked for you though.

Think I'll stick with the tired and true methods, these new metas seem detrimental to new cultivators.

Spawned 6 1/2 pint of brf (gt) to 70% cow manure, 20% gypsum, 10% poultry manure. Going to case with MGMC. Brought to field capacity and put in mini mono/hybrid tub. Substrate was 70-80 degrees and 4" when mixed. Excited to see how it turns out.

I apologize I had the ingredients wrong. It was 50% cow manure, 30% medium verm, 10% gypsum, 10% poultry manure. It was nice and fluffy after pasterization.

that looks awesome but shouldn't those holes be covered during colonizing?

I believe you still need proper ge during it. I have it wrapped in two towels keep it at good colonization temp.

an imperfect lid is all that needed for ge, you might wanna do something about that or your sub will probly be dry or getting too much fae during colonization

Just took care of it with some more duct tape and I will remove that during fruiting. Thanks for the heads up.
