Looks that way, was there a stump nearby?  Did you harvest any and get photos of the stem base?

She say that her and her B/f had cut some fir right in that area last year, but also theres Madrone ,and Tan oak in the area.

Oysters normally grow from dead and dying trees.  But they can be found occasionally on buried roots too, appearing terrestrial. 

I still think those are Oysters, but I'd be more confident if I could see the whole fruit body.

Yes, habitat certainly looks like Hohenbuehelia.  But the pileus is too light in my opinion.

I've seen them really light colored just like that before, and in the same habitat. I think they might get darker with age. I could be wrong but the appearance and habitat make me think it possible.

they look like oysters to me, probably growing from a root.

No, the are oysters


Hohenbuehelia is smaller and thinner
