I'm pretty sure a 97% consensus among experts that at least part of climate change is anthropogenic can be called "science agreeing".

http://iopscience.iop.org/1748-9326/8/2/024024/article

If you deny anthropogenic climate change, there is a 97% chance that you don't know wtf you're talking about.

did you actually read that?
only 32% of the 11000 published papers on climate change expressed support,
fewer still supported the anthropogenic factor in climate change

32% is somehow not 97%

Did YOU actually read it?  Here is an excerpt from that article for you since you apparently don't know how to read and comprehend information:

Quote:

"Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming"

the 32% you refer to is a percentage of published white paper abstracts which specifically endorsed the AGW over the 20 year period from 1991 to 2001.  The 97.1% number is the percentage of abstracts published which expressed an opinion on the subject and specifically endorsed the idea.

it's really good that you can repeat what I already stated

notice they did nothing more than search the abstracts, they didnt read the
actual papers, so very scientific of them

It's a general principle that hot things move faster than cold things and that hot substances are able to dissolve more solid or liquid material. It's also a general principle that things that move faster do more damage to the stuff they bump into. They especially do more damage if they're really big and heavy. All these things should be common sense.

There are experiments you can do at home to demonstrate the fundamental principle behind climate change, that more carbon in a mixture causes that mixture to retain more heat.
http://glory.gsfc.nasa.gov/globalwarmingexperiment.html
This is a cool experiment, as it's able to demonstrate many different causes of global warming at home.

Stormfronts are hard to simulate and it's essentially impossible to track their behavior from beginning to end (seeing as they don't actually have a real "start" or "finish", being patterns of a very large single system), but the premise that they can be exacerbated by global warming follows so logically from everything we know about physics-- and has been confirmed by so much research, as I've demonstrated countless times-- that the burden of disproof is far heavier than that of proof.

I'm such a sucker for even posting here, you guys are a bunch of trolls. :okay:

Your measured response is not welcome here.

awesome. now why is anyone talking about climate change, in the context of this thread again?

From my perspective, this thread started out as "holy fuck look at this storm system", but quickly evolved into a debate about the realities of anthropogenic  climate change.  At no point was I trying to argue that this storm system was any kind of a 'clincher', since doing so would be moronic.

Well, let's take a look at the US....here are a few graphs....

Graphs of temp extremes, percipitation, hurricane srikes, etc for the US over decades.  Based on these graphs it is clear what is happening in the US.

The US is experiencing weather, and it is normal....... :smirk:

1) abstracts contain relevant collated views and information about the article in question and are written by the authors.  They are a perfectly valid resource for determining the intent and conclusions of a whitepaper.

2) It's funny how you had no problem with the resource in question when you thought it backed up your position.  Now that it is clearly no longer in your favor, you attack it as being somehow unreliable.

All right, you have convinced me.  All is well.

Hey guys!  Everything is fine!  Some random guy on the internet just cherry picked some graphs from google images to back up his already entrenched opinion.  This has never happened before!  I guess everything is fine after all, and we can just keep doing what we were doing.  Fuck those sneaky climate scientists and their "research methods"!  This guy obviously knows what's up.

That's fairly common in the scientific community actually.  For the very basic information they were searching for.. That is why the Abstract is there.

Considering that this is government data.....who is doing the 'cherry picking?'

Im an engineer, and a scientist.  the idea that carbon dioxide is a pollutant is one of the most assinine things I've ever heard in my life.  when someone presents real data that has statistically strong correlation AND they have identified what variables the data correlates with, AND they have done the required testing of alternate hypothesis, and ruled out the alternate hypothesis, then I'll consider taking it seriously.

Until then it is just someones bullshit theory that is unsupported by statistical evidence and has not been tested by scientific method.

Now, you wouldn't think that certain individuals that want to create 'carbon credits' and buy and sell them on an exchange like commodities, they wouldn't have an agenda to push global warming on to all of us would they?  Maybe like...uh...this guy...

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=529_1258575334 ; :lolsy:

The 'climate change theory' could be taken a lot more seriously is assclowns like Al the Whore who don't know shit about science were the spokesmen.... :smirk:

No, CO2 is not a 'pollutant'.  it is a natural part of our atmosphere, and it is a greenhouse gas, tending to keep heat from escaping.  Our world is in a delicate balance, and adding more CO2 to the atmosphere disrupts that balance and will lead to a runaway warming effect and increase in climate extremes.  What is hard to get about that?

I hate blatantly calling people liars but seriously... scientist my asshole.  Go back to school.  And I don't mean Rush Limbaugh university, which is apparently where you got your previous degree.

did he say that increases in C02 aren't happening, or that the increase wouldn't amount to a change in climate?

why do you people insist on doing this? putting words in people's mouths and referring to people's inadequate intellect for something that the person didn't even assess, or question?

Come on now, don't be stupid...  he is an obvious climate change denier coming from the ridiculous position that "CO2 is not a pollutant, lol".  He completely misunderstands how the whole system works, and refuses to educate himself.  More than that, he is spreading his ignorance around by the bucketload and claiming credentials he obviously does not possess.

I think I am entitled to be a little bit snarky here.

i don't see how he's being a detractor of climate change. i see him simply assessing that there isn't a working hypothesis; and that there is only statistical analyses. he's simply being open minded. i don't see how that's a bad position to take. i certainly don't see how it makes him a liar, either.

Just as with climate change, this argument comes back to no specific incident, but an aggregate of data over time.  Read through his posts regarding climate change both in this thread and in previous ones, and it will become clear to you.
