I'm pretty sure a 97% consensus among experts that at least part of climate change is anthropogenic can be called "science agreeing".

http://iopscience.iop.org/1748-9326/8/2/024024/article

Science cannot agree.  It is an inanimate concept and not an agreeing entity

You're splitting hairs. What we see re: climate change is an overwhelming consensus among trained scientists (specializing in climate science or otherwise) that it is very real and demonstrably caused by humans. I would cite sources but you guys clearly have wax in your ears along with a mean case of conjunctivitis. Mama didn't raise no fool and I suffer under no delusion that you guys haven't been shown adequate evidence already.

You don't have to be a scientist to know that climate changes.  10.000 years ago the earth was covered with ice to a huge extent.  Did you have a problem with that climate change? Did CO2 have anything to do with it?  Did humans?

The idiots are lying about what the scientists are supposedly 97% in agreement on.

Again, I made no assertion that extreme weather events can be reliably attributed to anthropogenic climate change. This would be a very difficult thing to prove, since there are so many factors that influence weather patterns beyond the scope of our measurements or understanding, but I keep my mind open to the possibility. It's obvious that global weather patterns are strongly affected by human activities. I see you spending a lot more energy on trying to deny it and with no appeals to reason, only to emotion. Why is that? :freud:

And now: a graph! You should enjoy this, zig.

Quote:

Global annual average temperature (as measured over both land and oceans). Red bars indicate temperatures above and blue bars indicate temperatures below the average temperature for the period 1901–2000. The black line shows atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in parts per million (ppm). While there is a clear long-term global warming trend, each individual year does not show a temperature increase relative to the previous year, and some years show greater changes than others. These year-to-year fluctuations in temperature are due to natural processes, such as the effects of El Niños, La Niñas, and the eruption of large volcanoes.

He will claim that your government source is biased and can't be trusted, and then spew his misleading statement that CO2 has trailed temperature rises, and therefore there is no link between the two .

You keep using the word "certain."

It continues to show that you don't know much about how the scientific method actually works.  Yet here you are, trying to make a scientific argument.

Untrue. I don't know shit about meteorology but even I can tell you'd have to be a moron to discount the possibility that the aforementioned inescapable giant impact of humans on the climate would have certain implications for global weather patterns.

Would tsunamis, hurricanes, and tornadoes be occurring in the absence of human influence on climate? Certainly. Would they follow the same patterns? Hell no. Would they be more or less extreme without human influence on climate? I don't know. You don't know. There are undoubtedly people out there who can make better guesses than us, but if they expressed a position that made you uncomfortable you would plug your ears and whine about academic elitism, and that is why we won't be hearing their opinion in this particular venue.

Are you referring to the spikes in temperature commensurate with global warfare? I heard nuclear explosions are pretty hot.

yeah, you can say that over and over again too, doesn't mean i don't know how the scientific method works because i used the word "certain".

*tries to sell me on the notion that "science can never be certain, because scientists (being as super cool as they are) would never entertain the notion that they know anything for certain. wow, how predictable*

yes, i get it. scienctists like your brillient self cannot ever be certain. which is why i used the fucking terminology... you FOOLS are ACTING AND SAYING that you're certain... which is what i am saying is impossible. the only thing FOR CERTAIN, you can know, is what has been provided... which has been time and time again, re-iterated for you foolish people.

you can only know for certain (as of right now, in a time of certainty, as in your brain is working right now, right?) is that "a cause for global warming is humans increasing the levels of C02". you can't be specific on how much so, we're giving cause to global warming, and how much so this effects the weather, and how it effects us, on a day to day basis. there is no accessible information on such matters. if you are willing to provide some info, science would be appreciative of your cause.

There is no uncertainty that human activities have a direct and massive impact on global weather patterns.

I already answered those questions (even with a handy visual aid) and you failed to take my answers into account.

You don't listen to anything I say, you just complain about my semantics. I could post more graphs and more hard evidence, but why should I continue to fuel this abusive discourse by scrambling to meet your demands when these efforts are ignored and mocked every time? Fuck off.

and i'll point out the irreverent (at this point) fact that correlation does not equal causation. so your neat graph doesn't answer any of my questions.
