Found this in my garden. What do?
    #19150275 - 11/17/13 03:24 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I think it's an amanita. It's very beautiful. I get these sometimes sprouting randomly they appear over night. Is there a way to propagate them?

One of the best specimen of Amanita Muscaria I have seen...

This will give a very *sacred* intelleectual trip without most of the visuals..rendering it not so sutablefor recreational use.. But I hear it to be quite good for the understanding of the universe ect.. kind of stuff and so he will try it soon..

Might it be too iconic to use this under the winter solstace? On cristmas eve santa claus comes with his gifts..

If you want use it for tripp just dry it cracker-dry, so it will snapp between your fingers... at a cozy temperature, but not too hot of cource... I have read max 45C .

When you dry it, it will start to sweat, and you want to keep this sweat, pouring it over the musroom ifany drips off.. set it on a plate or something..?  (While drykng)

When it is dry you have several choives... you would eat it as it is, (make teea and smoke, but I am not sure about these methods) or ground it up to flour with a mortar and pestle..

If you chose to flour it you may add some liquid and (just a tiny little) press it to flatt crackers for you to eat, or you may mix it to a sticky paste with a liquid... (to use with meditation... depending on how long you will vary from alch to olive oil.. alch being quick absorbant and oil longer...)

Do NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE DRINK A CARBONATED BREVERAGE DURING, BEFORE OR A LITTLE BIT AFTER THIS...

Unfortunatly they are micorrhizal which means growing them indoors is impossible. I'm not sure if there is any way to encourage more to propagate outdoors in a given area via something like spreading small chunks of tissue or stem butts around that spot in the hopes that they clone themselves or not. Nonetheless that is a beauty

You can grow them indoors, but you will need a tree in your house...

Don't think its quite that simple but I would say that unless you got one hell of a house or you live in a lean-to that just isn't going to be plausible

From experience I know just eating them dry causes bad side affects including nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, and a horrible burning sensation in the tip of your penis "This is by no means a joke in any sense" But I have read and used a tek that says to crush them up and cover in twice the amount of water vs mushroom material and bring it to a light boil but when it starts boiling start stirring I believe it was for either 30 or 45 minutes so to keep the water from bubbling and in this process the heat turns the poisons inside the mushroom into a psychedelic compound that you can trip balls off of. This was my experience with this mushroom after I ordered it online.

Apparently small amounts of ibotenic acid are quite delicious, and amanita muscaria has a pleasant nutty flavor.  When detoxified by slicing into 1/4" pieces and then boiling in a very large pot (*ahem* PC *ahem), they can be sauteed, and if any of us can figure out how to use the PC for its intended use they can even be pickled!  I'm dying to get my hands on some of these guys and experiment with them as both entheogens and snacks, because there's nothing more gorgeous than this mushroom.
