What storms? http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2013/09/30/what-happened-to-hurricane-season-and-why-we-should-keep-forecasting-it/
Quote:
As we wrap up September, there have been just two short-lived Category 1 hurricanes in the Atlantic. Yet seasonal forecasts predicted an extremely active season. What’s going on?
Before diving into the seasonal forecasts, let’s take inventory on where the season stands.
In an average season, 8 tropical storms, 4 hurricanes, and 1 major (category 3 or higher) hurricane form by this date. This year, we’ve experienced 10 tropical storms, 2 hurricanes, and no major hurricanes.
Though we’ve had close to the average number of total storms, most have been short-lived and/or weak. If you went out for a cup of coffee at any time this hurricane season, you would’ve missed many of them.

2 years doesn't represent a change in climate… Weather always changes, and it has always been destructive

Proof of climate change- smart people who can understand science agree climate change is real Proof of climate change- basically every idiot believes climate change isnt real I have met very few smart people who deny climate change and a room full of idiots and illiterates who agree climate change isnt real. Choose wisely
Its funny to me that people who are uneducated are the most likely to believe climate change isn't real. Those same dumbos believe the earth is 6000 years old, noahs flood caused the grand canyon, and that dinasaurs and man lived together before said flood.
Lets face it- if every single fact confirmed global warming the uneducated are still going to deny it. They will deny it forever. You can lead an idiot to a book, but you can't make him read it. (And he's probably not going to understand it either)

I'm pretty sure a 97% consensus among experts that at least part of climate change is anthropogenic can be called "science agreeing".

If you deny anthropogenic climate change, there is a 97% chance that you don't know wtf you're talking about.

you can keep saying that crip crap, about how "we all know, we're smart, you dumb" but until you can tell me WTF you're actually arguing for, then you can just drop the whole wise guy act.
how big is our effect on the climate? is it cause for concern? where is cause for concern, if so? is the current storm, in the news, an effect from our cause of climate change? is there other causation for climate change? is there other instances of similar levels of weather fluctuation?
can you provide confirmation for anything?

You're splitting hairs. What we see re: climate change is an overwhelming consensus among trained scientists (specializing in climate science or otherwise) that it is very real and demonstrably caused by humans. I would cite sources but you guys clearly have wax in your ears along with a mean case of conjunctivitis. Mama didn't raise no fool and I suffer under no delusion that you guys haven't been shown adequate evidence already.

I already know you don't read stuff, you didn't even address the article I just posted, you just want to waste both of our time with semantic quibbling completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

i read it, actually. it provides no sources saying that all scientists agree on anything (which'll never happen) and no sources to state that this current storm has anything to do with "global warming". nor that global warming is cause for people to ponder whether we collectively need to "change" because we "need to".
nor does it cite any sources stating whether or not our increase in CO2 gases is causing a major fluctuation in weather patterns, that can't be predicted as simply re-iterations of previous weather patterns. scientists are proclaiming one surefire thing... that can be proven... that our increase of CO2 gas levels provide a stage for global warming, on a very tiny finite measure.
that's all.

Uh, yeah?

I never said any of that stuff, I just said that climate change is demonstrably anthropogenic.

You just contradicted yourself and then agreed with me. What exactly are you trying to prove here, anyway?

no, you fucking people should get out. all you people do is try and cause dissent. "oh it's global warming". no it isn't. "oh, it's gotta be said Global Warming!" why does it have to be global warming? "oh you people never will get it. global warming causes severe weather conditions!" so? weather can be severe without the global warming problem. "are you saying global warming doesn't exist? you're so durr because i'm a scientist and my peers all say the same thing" no. i'm saying this isn't THAT. global warming might be a big deal, but no one has proven that. all that has been proven is that, "it is of our current circumstances which provides a subtle increase in C02 gases which leads to global warming."
which means nothing, and you foolish people can't stop yourself from resorting to calling out anything and everything as "more proof of global warming; because scientists say that it DOES HAPPEN!"
constantly... going on and on... with no reason or proof of the matter. that's YOUR problem. not a problem of mine. in fact, i don't have a problem... except with you people thinking i have to be stupid, just because i am not up in arms with you're stance against global warming... seriously. that's all this is about, and it's fucking stupid as fuck. you people need to just enjoy a nice cup of
Quote:
What are you trying to prove here
that 1: i am not agreeing with you and 2: that your assertions about global warming are a NON-ISSUE.
you think that this is all about global warming, and my arguing is against that notion... you're wrong. i know global warming as a fact... i just don't want people like yourself to make this thread about global warming because you see a scary storm.
