Gifted family members, weird family religion, and attacks in the night.

So let me start off by saying im open to learning about new religious views interests me, ancient religion interests me too.
Lets begin with my mother and brother since my father and I are "normal". Idk what to think of half the shit I've experienced myself let alone all of this.
My brother, is special. Not like retarded but hes what my mom refers to as an "indigo child" both claim to talk to spirits. Before I moved out of that household I experienced strange shit. Shadow people type shit. Being attacked at night. Voices, and physical attacks like pushing. My mother says that my brother is what attracts the spirits idk.
What really peaks my interest is my aunt. Shes a "witch" i guess you can say. Shes called at weird times knowing whats the matter regarding spirits in the house.
My mother also claims as a child this aunt brought her to "rituals" because she was "gifted". These rituals consisted of an animal sacrifice and then my mother would black out. My mom says shes wiccan but I wasn't aware of them doing shit like that.
Just trying to find out more info about this stuff i guess, thanks for any and all replies

Great family. Your family would make a great "Reality TV" show. I'd tune in.
My mother was an Orthodox Jew who spoke in tongues. Jewish tongues, that is. Not your usual Christian "speaking in tongues" shit.
It's good having some spiritual weirdness in one's genetic line.
(But not the "animal sacrifice" stuff. That stuff's bad.)

My sis is a pro psychic, she owned a psychic arts bookstore in Hollywood in the early 80s for five years. I met THEM ALL. Every whacked out cult puppet and sordid New Ager, including all the famous ones from all walks of life. Most of them had seriously bad vibes.
My sister would tell me things like in my last life I was buried alive. I got to wear Crowley's clothes. I was initiated into the Golden Dawn. I did alot of shit.
I believe in not the slightest whit of any of it. It's all bullshit and egotistical means of remaining self righteous in ones cognitive dissonance.

Aleister Crowley was one weird dude. Depending on your perspective, he was either one of the most gifted, spiritually with-it people in the history of the human race, or he was a stark raving lunatic.
I would have been honored to wear some of his clothing.

Got to hold the heirophants wand he made, and Waite's pentacle, Fortunes chalice, and so on.... had Watchtower ritual done for me at the Bird's Nest - an old mystical chateau in Laurel Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills. The head of the order wanted me to join at age 14.

You seem to be pretty much of a lunatic just as you are. Can't imagine what you'd be like if you had gotten sucked into Crowley's circle.
One of my early lovers was the head of a Wiccan coven. The last time we exchanged emails, he was still active in the coven but no longer the head of it. That shit requires a lot of energy, and he's gettin' on in years.
So, yeah. I've done the weirdness scene too.

Sounds like a bunch of mystical hocus pocus made up by a bunch of immature wishful thinking weirdos that like to dress up and pretend to perform "magic" so that they can be different. I've met people like that, they generally don't impress me at all.
Spiritual Wiccans, now that's another story but a lot of Wicca has turned gothic bull shit for kids that want to be weird. That's why I don't associate with it and I'm a Pagan (Pantheist, shaman, animist.)

Lol. That's so funny. I did the TM thing too.
And I swear to you this is the truth and I'm not bullshitting you -- my Orthodox Jewish mother did it alongside me. We did it together. Our "mantra initiation ceremonies" were held on the same day.
My mother was not a conventional Orthodox Jewish lady, you understand.
Oh my god, I could do a ton of posts on TM. Don't get me started.

That's really interesting, OP. Does your family's mystical nature have anything to do with your cultural heritage? If so, what is your cultural heritage, if you don't mind me asking?

My mother is into this sort of shit, although she doesn't go far with it she does tarot cards and visits conventions with people like your brother with her friends.
We had an experience where I swore I the doorway of my house reaked of my passed away Grandmother's perfume she always wore. I called my mom over and she proceeded to freak the fuck out, I had just assumed she had some of it and that's what I was smelling. It seemed to be a formative moment for her, little things can push a person to that kind of stuff. Although I do admit if some one wasn't fucking with me the fact that we could both smell it is just nuts. She started reading esoteric books about all sorts of odd old world religion shit.
And to be clear this is her ex-husbands dead mother, she was an amazingly nice person but my Mom wasn't overly attached.
You're not the only one with family who believes strange some very odd stuff

Sorry, your family sounds cuckoo... I wouldn't say this but the animal sacrifice thing was too much to believe in that shit.
There's nothing special about your brother in the eyes of the general masses, its completely understandable though that your mom believes he's special. ..Would probably be nicer if he was special with a tangible gift rather than spirits fucking around in your house.
