I think the majority of them are alright. Just be upfront and honest they might treat you like a person. Stop doing things in a moronic manner.
You think your job is stressful when you get an order for 6 hamburgers, try and imagine what they go through everyday around every corner. Would scare me.
Cop bashing is getting old.

It's sick though. The idea of police is supposed to be 'serve and protect' I think, not take people's hard earned money for going over 50 mph on a long highway. This is really more of a gripe with the local highway police near here though, but 50 mph makes no sense.

You speed when you have drugs in the car and you wonder why you get searched? They can see what you've been arrested/ticketed for. "Speeding and drugs, repeat offender.... go figure.
really dude? It was like 2.5 grams of weed I paid a fine for and was wiped off of my record. that was 4 years ago. Im considering telling the next DICK HEAD that asks to search my car. NO you have no fucking reason to search me and if you do I'll take it all the way to court even when you don't find anything. Fucking tired of being abused by these power hungry douche bags. My interactions with police have always been pleasant. I got pulled over for illegal turn, and my drivers license had been expired for a long time. The cop gave me a warming for the turn, and made sure the no license case was dismissed in court. No fine. No points. Thank god I'm white.

Statistics also show that police commit murder and rape (or sexual assault) at a rate much higher than the general populace--though rate of theft is roughly equivalent.
The kicker? The arrest and conviction rate of police--for all crime--is dramatically lower than that of the civilian populace--but is this really a surprise?
ipso facto, police are either murderers and rapists--or complicit in the murderin' and rapin' perpetuated by their colleages
police forces around the worlds are cesspools--corruption is endemic--and it is only logical to direct a fierce anger and distrust towards the power and authority represented by a badge, and anyone who would choose to hide behind one.

Yes around the world police are often just the biggest gang. I'm talking developed free countries.

it's really only sick when the speed limit drops down and the signs are not clearly visible. There's a town about 3 hours away from me that we always drive through when we see family. It goes from 60mph to 35 mph really fast, someone is always getting a ticket when I go through there. The speed limit signs are poorly placed and by the time you realize that you're speeding you probably hear sirens

So you mean you LET them search you, you've been caught with drugs, and you're only CONSIDERING saying "No, I do not consent to a search" next time it happens?
Sounds like you need to learn your rights dude. I would NEVER let a cop search me without a warrant. Period.

Of course we all know its a social phenomena that when you give a group of people power, or one person, the power goes to their head and causes misconduct. We were just discussing this is sociology. The prison guard and inmate model. The question is; Do these misconducts do more harm than the police force does good

I hate a minority of police officers, but I am skeptical of any officer until I have interactions with them that lead me to believe I shouldn't hate them.

I hear you on the victimless crime stuff but do you really want the cops to be the final arbiters of what is and is not law? Blame your fellow citizens for that, not the cops.

Yes, they do.
Remember, in the vast majority of cases--for example, things like murder, rape, and theft--police don't prevent crime, they investigate crime that has already happened and provide an opportunity for compensation or revenge.
Though the argument can be made that a certain percentage of folks will not commit a crime solely because of the police presence, it can safely be seen that in the majority of cases this is not true. Making something illegal, or increasing the penalty, does not correlate with a reduction in associated criminal activity--for example, implementing the death penalty for murder is not associated with a reduction in murder rates. The only effective way to reduce crime is to increase the presence of police on the street level--which, while reducing civilian crime, inevitably causes an increase in crime perpetuated by those wearing the badge.
Once one understands that police generally have a negligible impact on reducing civilian crime rate--and that tactics that do see a measurable reduction in civilian crime, also see an increase in police crime--the claimed benefit of a police force, that of 'preventing crime', begins to make less and less logical sense.
Though it may be true to make the claim that the majority of crime is caused by civilians rather than police, this is merely due to the fact that the vast majority of folks are also civilians rather than police--when balanced, per capita, it is seen that police are much more likely to be criminals than civilians are.
So, what sense does it make to have police forces to prevent crime, when the only major result is the creation of a minority population who commits the very crime they are pledged to prevent, all while enjoying near immunity to any prosecution?
