If the earth's climate was as predictable as zappa's response to it, we would have seen these storms coming years ago.

no, you're letting yourselves be ignorant. i've said maybe about ten billion times, so leave my name out of your brutish idiocy.

climate change is real and no one person in this thread has stated otherwise.

you friggin absolute ...

man, i can't call you guys what you are, because it's bad stuff. but really, just stfu. we all get it, no one is denying it... you're all so smart for understanding that climate change is a real thing because science says so... great fucking argument, but what fucking reason do you FUCKNUTS have for making it? no one is denying anything, like you NIGWAMS say. NO ONE YET.

all anyone is arguing against, is the notion that this current dangerous storm has anything to do with the notion of climate change being tied into the event.

THATS IT. you FUCKING SHITHEELS can't even address that, because you are either blind or ignorant. either or.

If climate change is real, then the climate is changed. As products of a vast and complex equilibrium which is experiencing exponential changes from human activity, a strong case could be made that every weather event imaginable is related to anthropogenic climate change.

great. (a logical exchange, oh my!) as speculative as that is, great... now tie the current storm to the aspects of global warming that we know about, and help us "un-educated folk" reason a link in global warming and the current, and even previous "super storms"; so we can further correlate between events. with an aspect of evidence over opinion.

No can do.  As I stated earlier, you can never point to any specific event and claim that it is caused by climate change directly.  Climate change is a general increase in extremes due to an overall global temperature increase which feeds more energy into all kinds of atmospheric systems.  ALL kinds of extremes; Drought, rain, snow, tornadoes, thunderstorms, all of them.

But if you look back over the past couple of decades, you will see a marked increase in the number and intensity of severe storms, and it is this data as a whole which points to a changing climate.

did you actually read that?
only 32% of the 11000 published papers on climate change expressed support,
fewer still supported the anthropogenic factor in climate change

32% is somehow not 97%

i'm reading... i'm reading... i'll continue to read... i won't post this until i see their posts fade away into the night...

yep... not either of them, stated once, ever, that climate change "wasn't a real thing".

end of story. all i can see is them providing conjecture against the unabashed raving, and showing information that correlate with their point of view. not once did they say "oh this climate change/global warming thing is hogwash!" the only thing i've seen them post is along the lines of "why don't you just provide some information or evidence that correlates with a consensus in reality. not simply what you read somewhere".

Did YOU actually read it?  Here is an excerpt from that article for you since you apparently don't know how to read and comprehend information:

Quote:

"Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming"

the 32% you refer to is a total percentage of published meteorological white paper abstracts which specifically endorsed the AGW over the 20 year period from 1991 to 2001.  Many of them did not offer an opinion on the subject.    The 97.1% number is the percentage of abstracts published which expressed an opinion on the subject and specifically endorsed the idea.

Here is another excerpt:

Quote:

' For both abstract ratings and authors' self-ratings, the percentage of endorsements among papers expressing a position on AGW marginally increased over time. Our analysis indicates that the number of papers rejecting the consensus on AGW is a vanishingly small proportion of the published research.'

climates change. then they change again... there have been catastrophes in history, because of the climate, and they weren't solely caused by humans.

yes, you can make the assertion that the marked increase in storms point to climate change, but your assertion needs proof to be asserted as "right" or "correct", if you'd prefer.

There is tons of proof.  You are just too biased to see it.  I don't know if you are a shill for big polluting business or if you are just religious and coming from the position that "God said he would never again destroy the world by flood, therefore the seas aren't going to rise, and global warming is a sham".

Whatever it is, I think you have a serious bias in your perception somewhere.

Warmer air picks up more water. More water being picked up results in droughts. Air with more water in it moves more water, resulting in bigger storms and flooding. Denser air currents result in bigger wind disturbances.

It's a general principle that hot things move faster than cold things and that hot substances are able to dissolve more solid or liquid material. It's also a general principle that things that move faster do more damage to the stuff they bump into. They especially do more damage if they're really big and heavy. All these things should be common sense.

There are experiments you can do at home to demonstrate the fundamental principle behind climate change, that more carbon in a mixture causes that mixture to retain more heat.
http://glory.gsfc.nasa.gov/globalwarmingexperiment.html
This is a cool experiment, as it's able to demonstrate many different causes of global warming at home.

Stormfronts are hard to simulate and it's essentially impossible to track their behavior from beginning to end (seeing as they don't actually have a real "start" or "finish", being patterns of a very large single system), but the premise that they can be exacerbated by global warming follows so logically from everything we know about physics-- and has been confirmed by so much research, as I've demonstrated countless times-- that the burden of disproof is far heavier than that of proof.

I'm such a sucker for even posting here, you guys are a bunch of trolls. :okay:
