I don't hear much about cordycep mushrooms. I hear much on others like Lion's Mane especially, then Reishi as far as medicinally goes. Maitake and Shitake are generally used for cooking as I have seen them in international type super markets. I just bought some cordyceps mushroom supplement that has 500 mg each capsule, 1 capsule recommended daily dose. I'm a bodybuilder type, I workout so I don't know how this will workout other than trying it out. But before I do, I'd like to hear some comments.

Is the supplement you got Cordyceps sinensis? I'm growing some C. militaris on rice now to make capsules. I was curious if C. militaris would have the same type of effects (of interest to bodybuilders) as C. sinensis but couldn't seem to find out. I know C. sinensis is supposed to affect ATP somehow but haven't done a lot more research into how it can be of help. Guess I'll have to just try it out too! Let me know if you notice any effects when it comes to the weightlifting.

I haven't really got to play around with Cordyceps species yet. I do have C. sinensis and militaris on dishes though. I find them very interesting. The fact that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of Cordyceps species genetically adapted to specific species of insect/arthropod is fascinating to me. And that they have immunosuppressive traits as opposed to the immunoregulatory traits of "wood-based" mushrooms. They are another reminder of the fact that fungi are the true "Keepers" of our ecosystems.

From what I recall Cordyceps contains glycoproteins that are similar or the same as EPO. I believe this was the main reason why many Olympic athletes from China use cordyceps supplements.

it seems like an underrated mushroom. Mine is a cordyceps sinensis supplement. I'd have to try it first. I ask this first to get more input. I also take Lions Mane and Reishi supplements. Not sure if any synergy at all with all these. The Olympics in China I think they took actual cordyceps fruit, not supplements. Maybe I am mistaking an article I read. It might have been a story in India where cordyceps mushrooms are eaten for athletic performance.
Curious how much cordyceps am I really getting when 1 capsule is 500 mg but the actual cordyceps mushroom extract is standardized to 7% cordyceptic acid, from cordyceps sinensis (mycelium)? Am I getting only 7% out of a 500 mg capsule of cordyceps, so the rest are fillers (465 mg)? Isn't 7% of 500, 35 mg? So am I only getting 35 mg of actual cordyceps?
