I need help identifying these mushrooms!
    #19142534 - 11/15/13 08:10 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I need help identifying these mushrooms. I hope I'm posting in the right area. I'm new to shroomery, so if I'm posting in the wrong place, I'm sorry. I'm in statesboro, Georgia and discovered these mushrooms growing in a tight cluster underneath bark that is at the base of an old fallen oak tree. I'm thinking they are gymnopolus junonius but I want to make sure before I eat them. I am excited to find out if they are what I think they are, especially for growing this time of year. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.I can't post any pictures on here, for some reason. it won't let me, but I am using my phone so that may be why. I don't have access to a computer. The mushrooms are bright yellow-orange, thick hearty caps and stalks, rusty orange spore prints, they had a veil that is orangeish, and they stain blueish green. They grew in a tight cluster. The gills are attached and close together. They smell sweet/earthy but smell as if they would taste bitter if eaten. I have never seen gymnopolus junonius in person or ever tasted one so I don't know a lot about them. We had just recently gotten a good rain and the weather hasn't been too cold.
