cloning ksss mutants
    #19133609 - 11/13/13 10:00 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

hi everyone, been cloning to pda today. lots of random mutations occurring on my ksss substrates. I find the pe type phenos and the button type phenos really interesting. I cant believe the diversity of phenotypes in this cube!                                                                                                                                          it seems alittle wild still, and real unstable to me. so I thought I would have some fun cloning and see what arises...I love cloning and agar work! I,ll try to post some pics, but ive been having trouble posting pics                                                                                                                                        ...anyone else having fun with this cube?... peace and have fun with it... ps:couldn't upload pics to post but put some pics of mutants in my gallery in mush folder

So I don't understand, are those pictures of your clones? Or are they pictures of other peoples grows?

I just put it from a print to agar the the other day. It started to take off just when a couple contams showed up and I isolated the print growth from that dish to another one.

I added some more pics  2 check out, in my mush folder, in my gallery. tell me what u think. I,m trying to print the bigass mutant I cloned to agar today. I,m just havin fun with it here. just a hobby microscopist....

i found that my ksss mutant clones produced normal fruits so chalked it up to enviromental, consolidate and case and those "mutants" don't show up as.s much

thanks for the info man. good to know.  I was curious if this was genetic or environmental. I like the mutants myself. almost solid tissue, the bigone weighed 25 grams wet. there,s no veils on the button types, its attached to the edge of the cap. interesting... don't even look like a cubie to me. i have never cased in all the years ive been growing. I should try it sometime ...peace

I wasn't cloning, I used a print to go to agar at first. like they say with spores, "less is more".

IMO most of what people think are mutants are really deformities caused by something in the environment. A cloned fruit under those circumstances will not necessarily display those same traits again, especially if the environmental issue is corrected.

Is this what you guys are saying the ksss mutant is? I have just got done working with this strain and don't think it will he one I work with again.

good evening folks, just a thought about genetic mutation versus environmental.. just posted some more pics in my gallery. I think environmental is out .  genetic looks probable to me. one mutant in a cluster...same growth pattern, over and over, on same substrate same protocol...cool stuff

hi bro, interesting to me. ok ...so you mean that this cluster, could produce this mutation from environmental? I don't see how, this substrate keeps pushing off these phenotypes. I think its genetic man...

If you keep seeing the same traits consistently from ms that is a deformity IMO, something about the environment is contributing. If you see a trait, clone the fruit and see the same trait regardless of conditions that is a mutant.

While KSSS is prone to mutants, I have also had many normal fruits from MS

Don't get me wrong, I fuckin love KSSS. Probably my second most grown variety. Funny enough though, the clone from my KSSS grows that I even bothered to slant and keep around produces very normal looking fruits. Its just got the triple threat of fast colonizer, good fruiter, and wicked potent.
