Why this forum can become unhealthy to the young futant

I see Shroomery posters come and go; often individuals who I feel a close affinity for... and I wonder why so many only post for brief intervals and don't appear again, usually citing personal reasons as to their absences. And then it happened to me... I discovered that the whole eternal questioning and debating became dead unless combined with action in real-life situations. At some point, you need to go beyond the idea, beyond the theory, beyond concepts. There is a point in which there is no turning back, no more questioning. It's saying "yes" to every moment in your life, and then seperation ceases... You are beyond the disillusioned sense of free will that the ego is ever-creating for itself, to contain itself... and to trap itself. And when you are beyond free will you are one with evolution because evolution takes you where evolution wants to. And evolution, my friends, is god.

yeah it's like in that movie waking life where the few guys are walking on the street talking about stuff and they see the oldtimer on the pole:
"he's no better than us, we're all theory but no action, he's no theory but all action."

Yeah, you tend to burnout, if you dont get positive feedback from the external. Even if you feel the road your on is good, the practical part of you will shout in unsatisfaction.
I figure that's why some people can be more shallowly religious than others. they are able to neglect that pragmatic part of themselves because it probably has atrophied. but, i speculate.

I stop buy every so-often, but I'm at that point you mentioned. I just want to see what everybody here is up too I guess.........and I get bored sometimes and have nothing better to do.
When it's all said and done, it's time to just live life.

i agree.
Debate, and conversating , no matter how earth shattering, truthful, convincing, informative, or intense as they can get - are worthless unless applied to real life situations.

There is a quote by some well known philosophy along the lines of
"A Man who is wise with words and not actions is not a wise man at all, rather a fool"
Something like that

I myself dip in and out of this forum depending on my life situation. I've been around the Shroomery since its inception, never lingering for long in one place. I do so intentionally because I don't want my discussions to become egocentric. I have a very low post total for having been here this long and I'm proud of that efficiency. I've gotten to the point where I am my own teacher, and I only seek out others for clarification on certain points. This is a good forum to pit your beliefs against others who are generally well intentioned and well informed. The others I tend to ignore. Fortunately those others are few in this forum.

yeah, I stopped posting on message boards frequently cause I was so fucking sick of the speculative bullshit that is sooo easy to fall into when you're not face to face with another human being. what's the point of positing endlessly whether or not I'm a "racist" or a "mean person" or whatever... I mean, I know that many many people enjoy my company in real life, interesting and diverse people, whereas most of the feedback I get from the internet is negative. why? the blame goes both ways. I'm less apt to phrase my points in a concilitory manner, since I don't have to consider the real life implications of pissing someone off, indeed, it becomes a power trip to know that you're "getting" to the person you're arguing with; on the other side, most everyone who goes on the internet to converse is either emotionally or socially needy.

it's from fear and loathing. I like it because I'm hawaiian (which most people lump with all the other pacific people, despite the variation...hicks.) and I don't believe in the essential decency of the white man's culture. I don't think thompson did either. you shouldn't either. the white man's culture is indecent.
shroomism- yeah, waves. of boredom.

Thanks for the advice, Captain God. I am sure to take your word for it without backing evidence and blindly believe it. Peace.

Who said that by listening to a certain band's music means I believe in their beliefs? I listen to Mercyful Fate, they are outright Satanic in lyrical content and beliefs....
There is no "general" white culture, as their is no "general" anything. Peace.

yes! this is exactly why I have stopped coming here so much...
actions have alot to do with spirituality... a charity's motto I really like (charity is called SEVA) is "compassion in action"
and this is a big part of spirituality... we have to go beyond message boards to understand our problems and solutions... there's nothing wrong with coming here and whatnot, but if you make it your main spiritual practice perhaps a walk out in nature would also be beneficial.
I have been seeking for sometime now a method to help people who suffer and to serve the world... that is a very important part of all religions and spiritual movements. I hope we can have compassion in action as well as in thought and beleif, amen.
much much love.

there is no "general" anything?
strong argument man, strong argument.
so the content of the music that so "moves" you isn't important? I think that every aspect of a work of art must have merit, not just the external skeik of cool black skulls (or whatever draws you to both good art, tool, and pretentious silly crap like your "satanic" band).
if there are no generalities to be made, then we couldn't think. NO ONE knows anything for sure, much less anything specific. "knowledge" as it is called is actually an amalgam of justified belief- based on general observation.
you, however, despite all your rock star pretentions, are mired in political correctness. real rock stars are authentically angry at the dominate culture, whereas you espouse the relative tripe of said culture.
