My SG-FC first grow! Update 1: (Pics)!

1. I steam sterilized 2 1/2 pint jars of whole brown rice/vermiculite for 1hr:30Min's. 2. Waited 14 days to mix with 1-1/2 pint hpoo, then let sit for another 4 days. 3. Put the spawn in my sg-fc, which uses a 12/12 light cycle timer.
Any questions comments or concerns? :p The mycelium is like rubber solid!! No signs of contams.
Advice welcomed

If there is any heat coming off the lamp that could possibly be an issue. Don't want to fry the mushies! I'm not sure exactly fruiting temps since I'm pretty new myself but try searching for it and make sure you're not too hot!

Temps between 70-78 are great. As long as the light doesnt send you over that range youll be fine. I would sink that tub into the perlite,to bring the surface closer to the perlite. Your myc looks odd, tho i cant place my finger on it. Could be the.photos tho.

Thanks for responses! Here's a close up of the spawn @giggle Im also thought it looked odd, its kind of tan, but I mean white myco mixed with brown hpoo = tan mycelium?? Also: No signs of discoloration, (black, green, yellow, orange etc) Its not 100% colonized about 95% The lamp is 2 cfl's so they stay pretty cool!

watch the moisture on the surface of your sub to tell you when to mist, if you see beads of moisture right across the surface your good, if it's not right across mist away

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

You should have put this in a bigger shallower container. Your sub looks a little deep.
Even though the top has mycelium growth that does not mean the whole thing is 100%, four days seems really short.
Either way if it does not contam due to being too thick it should fruit something.
Because you may have fruited it early it may take up to 2-3 weeks before you will be harvesting anything.

If your lamp is heating the FC to much just grab some soft white or blue bulbs they wont heat up as much.
Good Luck!

I'm really new at this but if it were me, I'd probably spread it out some, It does look really deep and, in my mind, you would get a bigger yield with half the thickness that you have....... My opinion is worth about a 10 cent cup of coffee at this point, just so you know

IIRC, X amount of colonized substrate will yeild Y amount of fungus, regardless of how its fruited. More or less, extreme circumstances aside. I hope that makes sense.

So this morning I moved the sub to a different tray misted and im going to inoculate for another 4-5 days before putting back in my SGFC, which keeps humidity around 90-95. is this ok?

That sounds good, just make sure it is back to 100% before fruiting it. now would be the time to mist it well if you haven't done so already.

That's a lot of spawn for so little hpoo. I'd use a 1:4 spawn:bulk ratio. Ur sub depth should be between 3-4 in. Use more or bigger trays and use ur space efficiently. Add h2o2 soaked poly fill to those holes if u can't keep humidity up. Add gypsum to bulk sub at 5-10%. Toss in some coffee grounds too. Make sure it's 100% colonized before fruiting to avoid contams

This is totally bad advice.
Plugging the holes of a SGFC with anything is going to lower the humidity, not raise it.
And soaking polyfill in peroxide severs no purpose....fruiting is not a sterile process.
