How are we supposed to know how to work a dinky little thermometer we cannot see?
What are your ambient temps?
Cheap shit from china was not made to function, it was made to separate you from your money.

It's probably made to stay on all the time.
Either the battery is in backwards, the battery is dead, or the thing is broken.
You may get a better response in "Science and Technology"

ok so I cant figure out how to post this so im just going to us this reply to ask my question lol.
I ordered my kit and researched everything and im sure I am ready to begin the growing process, but I have a question. After the jars are inoculated and are ready to incubate what is a good way to ensure proper temp my house can get a little cold so I plan on keeping my house warmer but is there another way to keep them at the proper temp which from what I read is 70-90 degrees but 86 is the best. would setting my incubation box on top of a heating pad or under a florescent light be ok or would that be too much?

Jars/bags/tubs/trays should colonize @ room temperature getting ambient/indirect light.
Main pinning triggers are full colonization, FAE and Evaporation off of the substrate.
Light is a secondary pinning trigger. For tropical species temperature is not a pinning factor.
P. Cubensis are a tropical species. You could colonize at 70F and fruit at 80F with great results.
Light has been proven beneficial during all stages of mycellium growth. Mushrooms like mammals have a circadian rhythm.
You want ambient/indirect light(on a 12/12 schedule preferably) for colonization and consolidation.
You want direct/intense 6500K light on a 12/12 schedule for fruiting.
Optimal temps are mid 70s throughout the whole grow, but anywhere from 65F-80F is acceptable.
Incubation is outdated/uneeded unless temps in the range stated above cannot be kept.
The inside of the jar is always a few degrees warmer than the outside because the mycellium produces heat..mycellium tends to stall at temps above 86F , and contams thrive.
Fruiting at cooler temps tends to produce denser, meatier fruits, while fruiting at higher temps will often produce hollow, less dense stems.
Mycelium should be exposed to ambient room light from day of inoculation as has been known for many years. Light is not a pinning trigger until after full colonization and an increase in air is given, and even then it's a secondary pinning trigger. RR

Good temperature is 70-80. Incubators are not necessary if your temperatures are in that range.
However, there is an increase in colonization speed at 80 compared to 70.
Incubators are discouraged for noobs because an improperly made one can cause more problems than they can help.
If you want to make an incubator, make a TiT. Don't just set your tub on a heat pad, it will likely over heat your jars.
Here's my TiT.

its an incubation kit i got from midwestgrowkits using a dual tub and auqarium heater system. Right now my thermometer reads the incubator is at 76 F and will remain that way. Is this good for my bags?
And i got the incubator from hearing horror stories of how slow 3grain bags can be to colonize lol. And winter in my room temps drop to below 65 degrees

Look you guys dont have to make fun of me. I am simply asking for help from people who actually want to answer my questions. I am tired of hearing all this stuff about do Everything myself. Well look I have the money to afford premade things and I feel like its just better for my way of learning as a noob. I tried doing everything myself and failed miserably twice so I am simply testing out other methods. I don't know why i have to say this twice but if you are going to post on my thread please only do it to respectfully answer my questions.
Thank You

Yup, just my last one for anybody with experience on incubating. My incubation system reads 76 degrees. So this should not rise the temp inside my bag too much?
