Hey guys ive searched and have seen mixed opinions on whether people will dubk a tub before the first flush if the sub looks dry when introducing light/fae.
Anyone here ever dunk tubs for a couple hours if they find their tub looks dry prior to the first flush?

You shouldn't have to. A tub should take care of itself for the first flush. Your substrate should have been at field capacity when you spawned. Sometimes noobs have been told to go to the dry side of field capacity to increase their chance of success but even then a heavy misting should help out. I wouldn't outright dunk it, but some pictures would help.

Not trying to bump my thread within 24 hrs but trying to give you a little more info. I use a space heater in a closet. Have no choice otherwise temps go to 45-50 degrees in there so its drying my tubs out like a mofo. Ive noticed my tubs look dry when introducing light and fae so just wondering if people heavily mist or dunk before 1st flush in this case.
Im not a noob when it comes to this but new teks and info are always welcomed so i can learn more. Its almost done colonizing another day or 2 cause i like to wait 14days at least. Was spawned on the 4th

It's only a bump if you're replying to yourself.
Idk what to tell you about the closet+space heater. The space heater is going to dry it out but idk if dunking is your best option.

Dunking is not a problem, but having to before first flush is a sign of a problem.
You need to get your grow out of the closet. Closets and mycology are not good friends.
If you need to dunk, do so for about 2-3 hours, then pour off excess water.

Ok guys thanks. I am poor college kid so i keep the heat in the house way down to where its probably only 50-55 in the apt. Its a 1 bedroom apt. So there really isnt anywhere elsw to put anything haha. I kinda dont have a choice. I guess i could put the space heater in my room and leave the closet door open.
Its a big walk in so its not like a really closed up space.
Would it be better to just heavily mist and let it sit for a few hours and dump excess water out? I know ita greatly effecting my grows because i was in another apt last year with an entire room for it and 2 tubs performed better then the 8 that i have now
