the start of cobweb or new mycelium?
    #19139725 - 11/15/13 05:10 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I put this tub into fruiting on Monday. I noticed this morning when I turned the light on that there was some new growth in the corner...not sure if its mycelium growing again or if it the start of cobweb?

Just leave it. Dont spray your tub with that shit. It looks healthy, if it is cobweb it will grow super fast and you will know it.

To clarify this mono tub was NOT cased. Any TC's wanna chime in ? I don't wanna spray it if its not the web.  I think it looks alright but I'm no expert.

If it is not cobweb and you spray the mycelium it will be fine. H202 is not "shit." It is an excellent way of treating cobweb. Its hard to tell if its cobweb in such a little area. Just one spray and youll see it melt away right before your eyes. Spray again in 12 hours if it is cobweb.

Besides, why let it grow when you can get rid of it easier now...?

Yes cobweb will grow in 24hrs and you will notice it dramatically. But by all means spray chemicals on your tub for no reason.

Peroxide may not kill mushroom mycelium but it's still toxic to it (slows growth). The tub looks fine.

Whatever dude. Spraying a little will slow it a bit but its not like hes killing it. Most people will spray a little h202 whenever they suspect cobweb. So you dont have much respect for a lot of people huh? I just fruited a half colonized sub thanks to a little h202 and got over 4oz dry from the first flush on ms. Have you lost some respect for me now too?

That's the problem, people ASSUME it's always cobweb, when in reality it's not a very common contam. Peroxide shouldn't be even thought about unless you're 100% certain it is cobweb since it does nothing but damage Myc. I'd recommend reading up a bit on cobweb so you can better ID it in the future instead of telling people to spray it on healthy Myc and cause them to delay a grow longer then it can already take. Kizzle made an excellent guide about it here.

I have his guide bookmarked. And i didnt assume it was cobweb. The only person who is really able to tell in such an insignificant amount is the op. All of us are just trying our best to help him. Also, cobweb IS a common contam.

I let it ride for a day and there has been no change so my assumption is that it was just odd looking mycelium. I noticed a few pins this morning,  so I should be good to go. Thanks for all the input.

yep! its not cobweb.

Yep I lost respect for you.

YEP, DON'T waste your time telling people to spray shit on their tubs if they don't need to.
yep, maybe next time before you haphazardly respond to a serious question about some ones time and energy and give them bad information you will consider the flame.

It's common if you're using a casing layer but most Cube cultivator don't use one.

I dont use casings for cubes and it still seems to be the most common contam i get... mostly the only one I get. Ill even get it during the spawn run before I even fruit.

And ive read your truth about cobweb article kizzle. Good info but some of my experience differs
Maybe its me, idk. I know I have proper pasteurization and sanitary techniques
