Also, I have been reading all of the posts in this forum on IDing mushrooms and am amazed at how well everyone knows their mushrooms, and the correct scientific names for them.
How does everyone know so much about them?

those appear to be dried Psilocybe cubensis stems; poorly cultivated or wild harvested [somwhere other than ontario...].
please view the stickie threads for this forum and aquaint yourself with the FAQ. i will be glad to help you in any way i can if you will do these things for me and comply with board policy.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

btw: that stem on the right looks odd. there appears to be reddish bruising or normal reddish coloration that dosen't fit with P. cubensis. i'm not really sure i see ant blueing on it. i'm a little suspicious.
[btw: are you sure you are not trying to trick us? ]

No.. all from the same batch. The stem is kind of shriveled and twisted around itself though.. maybe that is why? Not sure.
