Your favorite intellectuals. * 1
    #19138428 - 11/14/13 09:14 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Who are your favorite intellectuals? Feel free to post videos.

Here are a few of mine.

Neil Degrasse Tyson (if you sit through these 12 minutes you won't be disappointed.)

Terence Mckenna

Sasha Shulgin

Noam Chomsky

Salvidor Dali (this man's genius is underrated)

Jimi Hendrix (hilarious interview, he was obviously tired but if you listen to his interviews he was incredibly intelligent.)

Frank Zappa

"Psychedelic drugs don't change you - they don't change your character - unless you want to be changed. They enable change; they can't impose it...” - Sasha Shulgin

Intellectuals typically don't interest me… life is too short to take things so seriously. :chef:

I like just about any humble intellectual.

Richard Dawkins makes me want to pull my hair out.

Yeah Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens kind of annoy me on some of the points they've made in the past. They are certain about something that science cannot measure. I would say Dawkins is more humble than Hitchens was though.

maybe dontknow was thinking of book-worm intellectuals.  we all know education does not equal intelligence.

He was a very strange person. Even if he said weird things he was intelligent. His art speaks volumes about what went on in his mind.

 my professors are always in a bad mood, and all they've done is memorize what somebody else found.

maybe i shouldn't say intellectuals in general, but the ones who hail academia. especially the ones who they think are incredibly brilliant and attempt to show it at every turn. they always get mad about stupid shit, worrying about something that shouldn't be worrisome  everyone just needs to take a :chillpill:

Life's no fun when all the knowledge is handed to you it's more fun to go explore for it.

no order

Alan Watts

McKenna

David Icke

Sheekle

Huxley

Neitzche

Shulgin

Ralph Metzner

Neil Kramer

Ram Dass

and plenty more...those are just the "main characters"

Something there is mysteriously formed,
Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,
All-pervading, unfailing,
I do not know its name; I call it tao.
If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

It's just a shot away..
