Questions about cloning on agar.

So I have been reading mostly from Paul Stamets Mushroom Cultivator, great book by the way, but I have a few questions about concepts.
I understand that there are different types of mycelium morphology: rhizomorphic, tomentose(cottony), and intermediate(radial). As the book explains, rhizomorphic is the most desired and favors the formation of primordia.
I understand that these characteristic mycelium could come from genetic or environmental factors, so it makes sense that you could observe all three of these mycellium on an agar plate innoc'd with spores, since there are many opportunities for primary mycelium to meet and form genetically variable secondary mycelium. I understand that you would try to get the rhizomorphic isolated for any transfers from the spore innoc'd plates.
My question is, would you expect to see these different types of mycelium growing from a clone? You would expect every strand of mycelium to be genetically identical to the cloned tissue right? If so I would think not, but could someone help me out here?
Also I have this lovely plate that I innoc'd with living tissue, so I am starting to wonder how long I should let it grow before transferring and what part/type of the mycelium I should take, so you can see why I am interested in the above question. I have never done this before so go easy one me

That book is severely outdated....It has some good info no doubt, but it has a lot of bunk info as well.

No...it is not uncommon for a MS fruit body to contain multiple sets of genetics.
It is extremely rare to clone a MS fruit and get an isolate....almost impossible I would think.

Transfer from the leading edge of the mycellium.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its pretty neat that a single fruit body contains multiple sets of genetics. So my plate is only 5 days old, and I do not see any distinct sectors in it(I think). Should I wait in hope that I can see sectors before transferring, or should I just do it now. I know RRs video says to do it within the first 48 hours, but I had hardly any growth at that point.

Wait until you see distinct sectors.
Let the mycellium grow to no more than 90% of the plate.

Thanks again man, do you recommend any modern mushroom cultivation books that have a similar level of detail with more correct information?
