Why isn't anyone talking about BTC???

So a few months back, I knew KNEW to invest in BTC. I'm saying somewhere around March when I first heard of their alltime low. At one point, maybe last year, they were down to dollars per. Now, as I just checked for prices, it has JUST REACHED $447 PER! Even if someone were to have invested in the scary time when SR went down, the prices were ~$120USD. That's a solid 3.5+ gain per coin!
I'm so sad now... I had money from life insurance which is eventually going towards life after college. The thought of a switch of $1,000 to near $4,500 or more if I had invested more, especially with the thought of paying for school now and a car and such....
It hurts.
And I see nobody really (correct me if I'm wrong) has discussed the idea of investing in BTC in here. I wish I would have gotten the (passive) ok to invest. I know, I'm projecting.
It's just that money could have helped

living life thinking "if only I had gotten in on XYZ at $xx.xx" or, "I wish i had ABC in capital right now to dump into LMNOP undervalued asset class," you'll be miserable and die poor and sad.
BTCs were mentioned on here before they blew up, if i recall correctly

Well, I see what you mean. The last one I knew to invest in was the BP company after the oil spill. That was when I was 16 or so.
I realize there are other opportunities, and I guess next time, I really will go balls deep into it.
Any other potential big gains like this? I swear if one more person says precious metals... Don't worry, I tend to research very thoroughly where my money goes.

Bitcoins used to be <$1 per coin. Man, if you could have only invested then
BTC is a fad. It will die and fizzle and people will lose tons of money.

^Yes I see that, which is why I was interested in the first place. They dropped with SR 1.0 going down. I had the money then, just didn't feel like going through the trouble at the time. I thought, "I'll do it now" and guess what, $400. The difference was that I knew where it was headed this time. With SR2.0 being announced and the takedown, I knew it would go up. I just didn't know how fast. As for the $1 per coin, yeah I know. At that time I was a little scally wagger Freshman in high school broke as shattered glass.
So I just wanted to ask if there is any potential gains someone has seen and where? Sure, I could Google it, but I'm interested to know in what people here think and relay back and forth with em.

I don't think its for sure just a fad. It could go either way, people are making fuck tons of money on business relating to bitcoins. Theres a huge surge in demand and interest. So who knows, interest in other countries is much higher than in the United States also, something to consider.

last year, when at $8 per, i paid someone on this site 11 btc for some E. novo seeds and seedlings.
That is now worth almost $5000.
But at the time it was only about 90 bux.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Luckily I still have lots left over

So DieCommie, you a millionaire yet or what? Don't answer that. But over $700 today, dang.
I just started watching BTC last week and it was about $250 then. I almost bought four BTC then but didn't follow through because I didn't have a solid enough understanding of it. Could have made about $1500 over the week.
It'll be interesting to see how things develop following the congressional hearing today. Who else is gonna wait for the next bust then buy up some BTC for fun(and profit?)?

Fuck... $650... So even throwing down $1,500 at $400 a coin would have been a marginal profit... Anyone think it's going up more?
I'd say the safest thing is to wait for a bust... but what if it never comes back up for air a third time?

No, but I have made quite a bit of money. Way more than I ever thought I would. I was never bullish on bitcoins though so I sold many off before the price jumped. But, I still have some and I mine LTC now which have also risen in price a lot.

Ok guys, my Preev tab says we are at ~$560 per coin right now. Considering they hit $700 today, were ACCEPTED by the U.S Obama administration, SR 2.0 is out, are getting decent media coverage etc. in anyone's professional opinion (state how you're qualified) should someone such as me (a college kid looking to basically make fucking tuition) invest with about $1,000? I see that would realistically get me 1.7 coins or so because of the fees and such. To flip a profit, it'd ideally hit $700 again.
What do we (you) see as the possibility of hitting above the record mark again? Even if it's tomorrow or 1 month down the road, is t realistic to believe it will happen?
Preev says ~$580 now..

Nobody knows dude. But China is now buying them up thus inflating the price and I heard people are now buying them in quantities of a million dollars worth at a time. And there are currently about 22,000 vendors who accept BTC from what I read yesterday and as that acceptance increases so does the viability of BTC. Also consider that only 21 million BTC can ever exist so the scarcity is considerable, lending to demand. The growth potential looks relatively unlimited for the moment provided the Feds don't crack down on it in some way, which they very likely will at a certain point.
Obviously there was a sell off today following the hype and boom generated by yesterdays congressional hearing. I might consider buying a few if the price drops below $200 again. I would not do that with money I needed and you really shouldn't either. But hey, you're young so maybe go for it. You might want to consider LTC instead. More affordable for a college kid but it looks like it's followed BTC all along at about 2% of BTC's value so I wouldn't expect the exponential gains early adopters have enjoyed.
If you do buy crypto-currency it would be best not to try and "flip a profit" with it in USD or some other fiat currency. Instead, use it to buy goods from a vendor and then do with those what you like. This will spare you having to pay capital gains taxes(though from what I can tell how the IRS is treating BTC sale is still up in the air) and it will support the crypto-currency paradigm by moving what you're holding through a vendor rather than just cashing it out.

Just take 30% of that $1,000 and invest them in LTC and hope it catches (a) a wave of popularity when bitcoins get too expensive, or (b) the demise of bitcoin and teh replacement of it by litecoin.
if either happens, you can be that guy who bought at $7 and held till $700

Hmm.. Ok, I will consider ^^^ a viable option. They are relatively new, I remember reading Atlantis supporting them. The problem then, is that Atlantis was shut down.
Who else supports LTC? Any physical stores like the Subway or that bar for BTC? Any other big name black markets? Legitimate uses of LTC would be a good start. I think I may just jerk around here and buy $400 of LTC and let it ride. If nothing else, it is just a paycheck or so.
So, what site is reputable, can be purchased with a Visa/linking to bank account, and isn't bankrupt lol

not many people support LTC right now. But thats your opportunity. When people were buying bit coins for single or double digits prices no one supported it either. and those people made a kiling. So thats the risk you have to take, buy a bunch for cheap when no one wants them and hope it gets huge. Or be a late adopter if it does get big and significantly cut down on your earnings potential,
