trying to work with cpu fans

I have a problem here with antec cpu fan. I've connected one to a power adapter of 12v 60hz 21watt, the cpu fan has 3 clear wires so I had to dick around finding the red and black wires. once found I was able to only get the LED lights to turn on the fan would not spin.
I had bought 2 of them and was able to get the other one to work to an adapter with 12v 60hz & 18w where both light and fan work. I mean would the wattage really matter or did I blow the fan motor or circuitry?
I had other power adapters that where a little less powerful then the other adapters & those would only light the fan as well no spin.
also what really sucks now is that I had a old grow area that had a cpu fan connected to adapter that worked great. I unconnected that one to see if id work with the new fan but only gave the led lights power. what sucks is that the old fan it was connected to doesn't work now when I connect it to its adapter lol! it might have been that I tried the other adapters that I was using to see if id power the older fan I ghink I blew it up

You can buy a cpu fan adapter off e-ay fairly cheap. Why not just go that route rather than go thru fans?

That's now how you're going to want to get FAE. Click search posts. Type "greenhouse FAE" then check the trusted cultivator box and put posts less than 2 years old and click search.
