No shame in driving a big ass truck. Don't know about the US but here in Canada there is a shortage of drivers, and some schools provide full funding for Class 1 training. Some companies will fund it too.

Go take a civil service test. Retire at 38 with a full pension and good benefits. There are all kinds of civil service jobs, hvac techs make around 55gs a year and up through the gov and do the less then normal hvac. Hell post office mail sorter is listed at 26.32 an hour. Go to usajobs.com or govjobs.com and see whats in your area. Or join the air force and be something like a avionics tech. Get out in four years and make 100k a year.

I think it's pretty much the same here. Not a bad gig if you can deal with driving. I know another one of my friends got a job driving and it pretty much turned his life around. From that guy sitting on the tracks drinking beer to having a career and getting a car and all that other jazz.

Low Volt is easier to get into, although instead of highwire acts you are usually crawling in tiny spaces.

Give 150 bucks to a diploma mill online, get a Homeopathy license and start a website. Nothing better than selling water to stupid people at 80,000% markup.

Don't get a career. Doing the same thing over and over for 30 years sounds like the worst thing ever to me, and I am guessing it does for other people as well. I won't stand for it. It has taken me 4 years of undergrad and a year and a half of grad school to figure it out. If I am not enjoying what I do for my work everyday there is a good change I won't be doing it.
Making money /= happiness to me. end rant.
But really, stay at home dad is my dream.. Not much sounds better to me.

Sup OP, I'm in the same boat. Went to college, didnt work out, dropped out, started writing. Basically I'm a writer but can't find a job in the field. Basically freelancing and being a poor bastard. Still, I'd like to think polishing my skills and continually writing for magazines, papers and publications pays off one day.

yeah good luck with this. the market for programmers is very competitive. you will be competing with everyone who has been programming since they were 10 years old, plus everyone who has degree(s) in programming.

Looking for a career that I could stick with. Something tech would be interesting; like manufacturing chemicals, fixing wires, i don't fucking know. I hate thinking about his because I have no fucking clue what to do with my life.
You could always join the military. They say it's perfect for people who hate thinking about what to do with their lives.
If not, then go out there and experience different things. Only you can decide and find out what you want to stick with.
