Addicted to pot
    #19124564 - 11/12/13 01:51 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Hi,

I'm addicted to drugs, pot... Because I'm not happy and never learned to be endurant in any ways... My life is a mess... Stuck in a loop, completly broke for the first time in years, about to shamefully smoke a messy joint of botches... Last ones I had... Hope a few days from now will be feeling a little better and tweaking a little less... Should be clean, I can't buy it anyways...

Oh god I've felt so powerless over the last few years...
Please help me become free of these fears once and for all!!!

I've lived like a junky, now I want to be at peace

I once too was addicted to the powerful effects of the marijuana. It started off as a once a month partaking...then the habit grew to every weekend. I thought it would stop there. I kept telling myself I had the will power. I could control it, I told myself. But I was lying to myself, and more importantly, my loved ones. I began smoking the marijuana daily. I even started to use the hip slang -- calling it "ganja" or "bud".

Entire paychecks I blew on it. Soon after I lost my job, as I was running to the bathroom at the office to take a "toke". How foolish I had become. After my job dismissal, my wife left me. She found out that I had began dipping into our mortgage money for another toke of the "ganja". After she left me I lost everything. I found myself homeless and in dark back alleys giving oral sex to drug dealers...just to get my "fix".

I will pray for you, original poster. For the marijuana is an evil, evil substance.

Please...for the love of God, man. Don't end up like me.

seriously though, i know exactly where you're comin' from.  quitting weed and being sober 24/7 is a shock to the consciousness.  and it feels like such a sacrifice, like you're giving up so much while getting nothing in return. when i take a break from weed i balance this out by getting back into lucid dreaming.  the experiences are so amazing, it makes quitting weed totally worth it.  so yeah, that's my only advice, maybe get into dream work and it may get you through the jonesing for weed the first few days and weeks.  expect the disruption in your appetite and sleep schedule though, that's normal but remember it's only temporary.

Marijuana isn't really addictive. It is about your state of mind. I've quit twice now, first from smoking a ounce a week and the second time from quitting a quarter a week habit. That is what it is, it is a habit. Just be around your fam or something so if you feel down you can socialize with them and have their support. If you don't want to smoke, don't hang out with your friends who smoke. You probably wouldn't want to smoke but it will just put you into a negative head space. I am a year off weed and can hang around people smoking without there being problems.

Yeah Tyler.... A girl could've cut off my penis and throw it out a moving car lol

I habe an autistic brain, on the aspergers spectrum... I still look normal... It's not an excuse for anything. But I must say though that my marijuana addiction is 100 x harder to quit than when I quit tabacco or cocaine,.. It's just that it makes me feel ok... And without it, I feel completly lost.

Sme would say it is only a psychological addiction, but it's also physical in the sense that smoking almost an ounce per week for 10 years straight will completly f*** *p your dopamine receptors and the way your brain uses serotonin. When you go sober it's as if you have a mental illness...

They call it withdrawl induced depression and your right... I should get with my family. But I have none, no friends, because they all smoke so I got rid of them. And, my GF, she does her best but she just punched me in the face and my brain is so confused I don't even know the reason....

It never ceases to amaze me what a large percentage of the shroomery population has aspergers.

That being said, I have aspergers...I have found that for people who have aspergers/autism weed can almost be like heroin (as can cocaine).

That being said; I do not generally think weed is addictive. I dont freak out if I dont have weed and I can go a week or two without it no problem...its just when I think about it too much and obsess that it becomes a problem.

Find other hobbies that you can enjoy sober. Weed doesn't have to be a crutch.

The first few days are hell, then after a week it eases up. Beyond a fortnight you'll regain mental clarity that you'll have missed out on for a long time.

If you smoke joints with tobacco be aware you'll withdraw from nicotine.

You'll need a hobby to replace the time you would spend smoking.  Try to get out and be social if possible. Go drop in on old friends.

AVOID - Places, people, times or anything else you connect with smoking weed.

STAY POSITIVE - you're not giving up weed, you'd prefer to be a non-smoker for various reasons. Repeat the mantra - I'd prefer to be a nonsmoker

I've smoked since I was very young.  Managed to give it up for a year and was doing well until my brother had to come stay with us. I started sneaking the odd puff and boom! I'm back to my usual routine.  (I work fulltime though and support myself and my unemployed GF with my salary ontop of my weed costs)

Oddly enough I'm deemed to be on the spectrum by the tests you can get. Wouldn't put a lot of faith in them but my friends notice a lot of the behaviours in me to the extent I earned the nickname 'Aspy' in work....

I would say i'm on the spectrum, undiagnosed.

Barely any interest in maintaing freindships beyond a small group of trusted people, cumpulsive behavious such as having to have my lunch by 12 noon, natural flair for all things computer/ logic related.

It's not too severe to the extent i'd ever look into it, though I am very curious to see if there is any link there.

I was really addicted to pot when I was younger but now Im take it or leave it. Didnt even smoke for a week or two until yesterday when I got bored.

As for the lunch thing I cannot eat around other people. I have to take my lunch alone or go to the most secluded part of the room if Im in a group lunch area. I cannot stand it when people sit by me and try to talk to me while Im eating.

From OP: "its just when I think about it too much and obsess that it becomes a problem." thanks a lot, seriously, coming from an aspie this means a lot to me, gives me serious insight... You know, doctors jump to conclusions when you tell them you take drugs, so I don't always tell them everything, and anyways, they might still not be able to give me better words than you did.

Thanks for taking the time to write this

From OP: Oh my.... You too are supporting an unemployed GF AND trying to get a grip on pot use.... Sometimes I "wonder why we crack"

Sometimes, it's only when I'm hi that I feel my mind is clear :frown:

BTW I love your mantra idea, reframing, nlp, hypnosis, or just inate... I like your cleverness...

From OP: Do you smoke pot? (Is that why you asked if there was a link?)
Stupid question... sorry I just understood the concept of having numbers, like you are anonymous 8 and I'm anonymous 1...

Well...pretty much if its there Ill smoke it...if its not no biggie, I dont go around looking for it. If I see people smoking at a party Im not going to ask for a smoke but Im going to partake if they offer.
